Manju-Ice Cream

Comming Soon!

Have you ever had one of your friends try to tell you a joke, only to realize it would only REALLY be funny if you'd been there? Well that was a greater part of our adventure at the Oshogatsu (New Years) Festival at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach Florida, held this year on January 4, 2004. Most of the club decided to head down to Morikami in separate groups, but most of us managed to catch up to each other later. Christian and I arrived with Ron, Angela, and Brian and met Joslyn right at the front gate. We took a grand (short) tour of the gardens in all it's glory as well as the original museum building, and managed to learn a little bit about Japanese fauna and history behind things like the deer chaser from a well placed Morikami volunteer. Our stomachs were soon being called to the wonderful aroma wafting in from the museum, and so we decided to stand in line at the Cornell Cafe just as they began a rice pounding where we managed to snag Judd and Brittany from the crowd. We all sat down to a very odd but entertaining lunch. Thanks to a few misunderstandings and inappropriate connotations over the menu later we somehow had managed to come up with Chocolate Dutch Trucks with Manjuice cream. We ran our waiter a little ragged but I think over all the day was wonderful, and we all had a lot of fun. We spent all the last of our money on Japanese trinkets and snacks in the gift shop before calling it a day shortly before the festival officially ended. I am definately looking forward to another festival, hopefully this time with a little more propriety. Yea right - where would the fun be? ^_^.
