Is it Cye or Sai? Rowen,
Rowan, Roin (gooo figure) Rowin? Lei Fuan, Lei Fan, Rei Fuan Rei
Fan? Schnike doodles people, what is up with this? I have come across
millions of different ways on how the characters names are spelled.
Is Cale spelled with a K or a C? Sekhmet do you switch the h and
k so that it's Sehkmet? Is Tulpa spelled with an a or a u?
Actually Tulpa is an easy one, because the title of an episode is Tulpa
Turns the Tide and they spell it with a U and not an A. They may
say it like it's an A, but it's not.
And then you get into the
Yoroiden Samurai Troopers. Is Shu spelled Shuu or Shu? Is Mouri
MoUri or just Mori? And then there's the L deal. 'The letter
L doesn't exist in the Japanese alphabet.
In my opinion, you should go
with what's official, not with what you think is right. I have seen
countless times on the back of pencil boards and artbooks and things like
that how the Troopers Names are actually spelled:
Ryo Sanada
Seiji Date
Touma Hashiba
Shin Mori
Shu Lei Fan

that is a picture of the Troopers and it spells their names out on
the bottom. I have many more pencilboards with their names on it
to support it, and they're all spelled like that.
And as for the letter L deal, as I have heard,
I think Shu is actually of Chinese decent, so therefore, he's allowed to
have an L in his name. And if Shin's last name doesn't have a U in
it, then where did it come from? Wouldn't that mean that Cye's last
name is Mori and Mouri? since they just keep the same last names,
which can get relatively confusing since Ryo and Ryo are the same.
With Cye, when they say it,
it sounds like they're saying Sai. I actually do not know which is
the correct version, seeing as I use both sometimes, but I think that Cye
seems more correct, for a name anyway. Of course, when I first
heard it, i thought it was Tsai......with a silent T. Man what was
I thinking?
The name that really gets
the most whacked spelling is Rowen's. I have seein it spelled about
5 different ways: Rowan, Rowen, Rowin, Roin, and I think I once saw it
Roan. I'll admit, when I first started watching the show, the only
Character's names that I got right were Sage and Kento. Which are
relatively easy. I spelled Rowen with an A, so that it was Rowan,
and then I spelled Cye, Tsai, and then Ryo was Rio. -_- Hey, I fixed
those pretty quickly. rYo makes more sense, and this was before I
had looked at any character information - since my main objective was images,
which lead me to have 90 pictures of Ryo in my gallery, 80 some and counting
for Sage, 70 some for Rowen, and Kento and Cye are still getting more.
What gets me is when people
spell Tulpa's name with an A when even in the series you see it spelled
with a U. If you see something spelled somewhere that is 'official'
you should spell it that way. I have actually seen those Ronin Warriors
action figures (x_x) on E-bay and they spell Cye: c-y-e, and Rowen: r-o-w-e-n.

There is also a deal with how the h-e-double
hockey sticks do you spell Yulie's name? of course you can see how I choose
to spell it, and that's all that matters, because Yulie just isn't worth
arguing over.
And then it's like, okay, the troopers say their
family name first (like they'll say Sanada Ryo for Ryo Sanada) but when
they write it out it's their given name and then their family name, like
we normally do here in the states. Why is that?
....
Okay so I don't know.
If/When you hear Seiji's last name, which is
Date, it's pronouonced Da-tay, not Daytay or Date like you're going out
on a date, or the fruit....nevermind. It's Datay, but spelled Date, because
the e in Japanese is pronounced ay, as in Day. So you would think
that Seiji is pronounced Sagie....for some of us that's a stupid little
name that we call Sage when we feel like making him feel like a baby.
(which ironically, kayura does call him in the series....) It's just how
it's pronounced, of course they have Seje or Seiiji....I dunno, they also
pronounce Touma's name Tuma or Toma, it's like, well fine...and then Shin
is sometimes Sheen and then sometimes it's just plain Shin. At that
point you just stop caring. Ryo in Yoroiden Samurai Troopers is sometimes
and a lot of the time pronounced iyo, with the tiniest R pronunciation
in there. so it's like Riyo, and sometimes people even spell it that way.
*shrugs* Like I said, after a while you stop caring and think 'whatever'.
SO. Now that you have read my confusing and pointless name rant, this is what I'm going to do:
Just for the sake of my sanity, although we all know how VASTLY overrated that is, I am going to go around my site and correct all of the names to what they should be. Kento will now be Kento Lei Fan instead of Kento Rei Fuan, Cye will now be Cye Mori instead of Cye Mouri.
I would APPRECIATE it if I didn't get any e-mails
about the whole L deal, because if that is how they spell it on a pencil
board, that is how it's gonna be spelled here. If I do get an e-mail,
I will simply send you the url to that picture up there and say: LOOK!
PROOF! NYAH NYAH! I'M RIGHT AND YOU'RE WRONG!
...well, you never know.
