A Light Amoung the Shadows

Chapter Two

By Phoenix

X-Men/Ronin Warriors/DBZ/Gundam Wing crossover<-----weird huh?
the daughter of two x-men finds herself trapped inside a book with no name
and the only way to get out is to help strangers fight thier worst enemy yet.

Gambit sat in a recliner constantly checking his watch. He was getting
worried about his daughter. After Rogue's death, he promised himself that he
wouldn't lose Adrienne like he lost his wife. Since then he protected her
with every breath he had and with every step he took.
Wolverine was on the couch sharpening his claws. He noticed his friend
sitting chin-on-hands and his constant gazing at his watch. He sighed and
shook his head before returning to his work. "She can take care of herself
Cajun."
"I know," the Cajun replied machanically.
Wolverine's eyebrows went up. "If ya did, ya wouln' be worryin' 'bout her."
Gambit's somber gaze fell on him. "She's all Gambit's got. I don't know
what I'd do if anything happen to her."
"Perhaps you should tell that to her."
"Tell me what?" Adrienne asked as she entered the room. Her father
quickly got out of the chair breathing a sigh of relief. "Ummm...to do your
homework," he lied.
"Oh," she said as she her shoulders slumped down and slunk away.
Wolverine got up from the couch and elbowed him before he left. "Nice goin'
Gumbo."

Adrienne walked into her room. Her window was open, and a cold breeze was
blowing through it. She closed it then laid down on her bed. She looked over
at the picture on her nighttable. It was one of her at 4, on her father's
lap, posing with her parents for Christmas. Tears formed as she picked up the
picture and touched her mother's side. Why did you have to die? Didn't you
realize how miserable we'd be without you?
The girl set down the picture and grabbed the book. She checked the
covers and front pages. No title nor dedication. Not even an introduction.
Stange. Adrienne turned to the first page and began reading. All of the Z
fighters, Ronin Warriors, Gundam pilots, and Warlords gathered in the Hall of
Time to discuss the new threat...

"How're we going to stop this thing?" Kento stood up as he yelled.
"Hardrock, stop being so melodramatic," Vegeta snapped, "it gets old very
fast."
"Shut up Saiyan before I make you shut up."
    "Try it Human."
"Stop your bickering, both of you," Kayura ordered. "I'm sensing another
presence here watching us."
Everyone gave eachother puzzled looks. "Who is it?" asled Relena. "Anyone
good?"
Kayura closed her eyes and concentrated. "I can't tell. It's a 17 year-old
girl with red hair and green eyes. I can sense a dreadful amount of power
emmiting through her. She's called a mutant."
Everyone else looked more utterly confused.

"WHAT???!!!" Adrienne yelled in disbelief. How could a book character be
describing her?

"I'm going to bring her here." Kayura announced. Rowen cocked his
eyebrows. "Are you sure that's safe? What if she's evil?"
Kayura shrugged. "No, but she might know something we don't. Anyway, if she's
evil, whe'll be our prisoner."
She got up and walked to the middle of the room. She concentrated all her
energy into the Ancien't staff. The rings of it chimed three times before a
light came from it.

Adrienne's window suddenly opened, and a strong wind blew into her room.
She heard three chimes then a bright white light came from nowhere and
devoured the entire room. The terrified girl tried to block it with her
telekenetic powers, but it was too powerful. All she could do was shield
herself from it's blinding intensity. When the light disappeared, all that
remained was an open window and an open book.
