"Help!" a girl’s voice called from the edge of a cliff.
"Cora! No! Cora!" a young boy with blue hair, fighting
off evil warriors cried to her.
"Help me Rowen! I’m slipping!" she called, hanging on for dear
life.
"Unh!" the boy, Rowen, said as he shoved off a warrior, and ran over
to the girl, and grasped her hand, to try to pull her to safety.
A warrior grabbed Rowen and flung him out of the way, making him loose
his grip on his friend.
"Aaahhh!" she screamed, as the warriors captured her.
"Cora!" he cried, as his friend, and the warriors, vanished into the
air, never to return again…
"Cora!" Rowen yelled as he sat up suddenly in bed. He blinked
a couple times in the darkness. He was panting, and was covered in
cold sweat. Rowen rubbed his eyes, where tears were beginning to
form. The memory, the awful memory, of his best friend’s disappearance
when they were only thirteen, prayed upon his mind, torturing him.
Now, as a Ronin Warrior, he hadn’t had the time to think about what happened
to her. Until this dream, this nightmare came. "What time is
it?" he asked himself sleepily as he looked over to the clock. The
glowing red numbers said 2:38. Rowen shook his head, and tried to
return to sleep, fearing that the nightmare would come back, as it ended
up, he quietly cried himself to sleep.
"Rowen…. Rowen…" a voice called from faraway, "Hey Rowen! Wake
up!"
"Huh?" Rowen asked sleepily, a split second before a pillow that was
thrown at him hit his head. "Hey, what’s the big idea?"
"Had to get you up for breakfast somehow," Kento answered.
"All right, all right, I’m up, shiesh." Rowen said, sitting up on the
bed.
Kento left the room, and then Ryo walked in.
"Hey, Rowen, are you okay? You look like you’ve been crying,"
Ryo asked his friend, laying a concerned hand on his shoulder.
Rowen rubbed his eyes, remembering his nightmare last night.
"Yeah, I’m okay Ryo, I guess that my eyes are just a little watery,"
he answered.
Ryo, who had dark black hair and medium blue eyes, looked at Rowen
a little quizzically, the shrugged, and smiled. "Okay, come down
for breakfast soon, or I think Kento might eat your share," he said with
a laugh.
"Yeah, I’ll be down in a minute," Rowen said, returning the laugh.
Ryo left the room, and Rowen was left to his thoughts. Rowen
thought a moment, then got up and walked to the bathroom. He looked
at his reflection in the mirror. His wild blue hair stuck out at
wild angles, as it always did, but he took a brush to it anyway.
"Wow, I guess I do look like I’ve been crying." he said to his reflection.
Then proceeded to wash his face, to get rid of that crying look.
"There, that’s better." Rowen rubbed his eyes again, to make sure
that he was fully awake, then he flipped off the bathroom light as he walked
out, and down to the dining room.
"Hey, look who’s awake," Sage said as Rowen entered the room.
"Well what time did you get up Sage?" Rowen said, smiling at his friend,
whose crazy blond hair covered one eye.
"Oh, about 6:30, and it’s what? 9:17 now? Hmm…I think I’ve been up
for almost three hours." Sage replied, also with a smile.
"Yeah, well, I guess that’s the difference between you and me when
it comes to sleep, I need more than you."
The two laughed, then Cye and Kento, with plates full of food, came
through the door, Mia tailing them just in case some disaster happened.
"Come on Kento, move out of the way so that I can get through the door
at least!" Cye said in exasperation, but with a smile on his face.
"Aww, but it smell so good, I can’t wait to eat it!" Kento exclaimed
with a hungry look on his face.
"Well at least set it on the table before you start eating it Kento!"
Mia called from behind Cye.
"All right, all right, here Rowen," Kento said, as he shoved a plate
into Rowen’s hands.
"Thanks Kento," Rowen replied with a surprised look on his face.
Sage and Cye laughed as Cye handed Sage a plate with steaming hot food
on it.
"Thanks Cye looks good." Sage said to the medium-brown haired Cye.
"Well, Mia made some of it, so I can’t take all of the credit," he
replied with a smile on his face.
"Oh I didn’t hardly do anything Cye, well all know you’re the best
cook, even better than me," Mia said, tossing her auburn hair out of her
eyes, "By the way, where’s Ryo?"
"I don’t know, he came into my room this morning, but then he left,
I don’t know where he went after that," Rowen answered.
"Yeah, I saw him also, but I’m not sure where exactly he went." Sage
added.
"All I know is that he went in after I threw a pillow at Rowen to get
him awake, but that’s it, hey where’s the Yulmiester also?" Kento asked
through a mouthful of food.
"Yulie’s out playing, I’ll go call him in to get breakfast," Mia answered,
and left to find the little boy who lost his parents in Tulpa’s first attack.
