| "Heinz" Hungary/1945 (Dragon-Models) |
| Head Sculpt: This head sculpt is one of the better head sculpts that was released in 2001. This sculpt has more realistic looking facial lines and the hair line is done very nice, with a good shade of blond that represents a more natural blond hair color. If everyone can remember the neon blond color that was used for "Ernst", this color blond on Heinz is ten times better. Even though this head sculpt was done above standard, I would have liked to have seen a more "battle face" look on this figure since he is a late war German figure (1945). A more angry, with a slight desperate look would have been much more appropriate (my opinion), since this was the end for the thousand year reich. Grade: 9.3 (A). Body/Articulation: The body is the same type body that came with the likes of "Volker", "Ernst", and "Wilhelm". A bigger improvement over the body that was found on "Hans" and especially "Klaus". The only big issue with me is the shiney preformed hands that come with this figure. The gloved bendy hands are my personal favorite from Dragon (Winter and Fallschirmjager Jump gloves). I hope that the shiney hands disappear and are replaced by flat fleash tone hands in the future, because to me this is the only thing that lacks on Dragon figures. Grade: 9.3 (A). Uniform/Field Gear: Outstanding uniform! I love 44 peadot pattern on both the tunic and pants. I also like the quality of the material (very thick and durable/something allot of the newer releases lack). The LCE (black suspenders) are the same standard straps that still grace SS and Heer figures today. The only issue to me is the painted metal ring on the back. Why can't we have a metal ring like those used on the Luftwaffe field division figures and Fallschirmjager figures? This still perplexes me even to this day. The gas mask canister is the new looking type that came with all Dragon's figures released from 1999-2001. The breadbag and water bottle are the early Dragon release versions also. The older versions were very nice for there time, but I like the new "Field Worn" gear myself. The MP44 ammo pouches are the rubber molded type. I like the older type allot. The new material type ammo pouches are good, but it depends on what figure they are packaged with (some look good, some look terrible depending on which figure they are on). The rubber type ammo pouches looked good with any figure they were packaged with (my opinion). The belt is the standard early issue rubber belt, with the old type "SS" belt buckle that slipped into a cut square in the belt itself. The newer version is a leather type material, with a clip on the end of the belt that clips to the belt buckle. The old version was nice, but trying to stretch it over some of the smocks and greatcoats proved to be challenging at times, even damn frustrating when the belt buckle would break. The M43 SS visor cap that is packaged with Heinz is still one of the best made by dragon (my opinion). It fits the head very nice and the material is top notch with the factory applied SS national emblem and skull. Overall, the uniform and equipment that is packaged with Heinz is very nice and was the best on the market when this figure was released. Grade: 9.5 (A+). Overall Grade: 9.4 (A). Closing Comments: In my opinion this is one of the better Dragon figures that was released in 2001. The figure is behind the power curve in some areas when compared to todays standards, but it is a figure worth having. If you can get your hands on this figure, I would advise doing so. You will only be pleased by the high quality that has seemed to dissappear from allot of the newer Dragon figure releases. Review Posted: 21 June 2004 |
