About Nicki french
The British singer Nicki French came from
London to the world with her smash hit "Total Eclipse
Of The Heart" in 1995. She sings since she was 12, but released her
first single at the age of 45! "Total Eclipse Of The
Heart", a beautiful dance version of the 80's hit by Bonnie Tyler, topped
the charts in many countries worldwide. It peaked at # 2 in the Billboard
Hot 100 at the USA, and was also top 5 in the UK. Ms. French also scored#
1 in Brazil with this hit, and conquered the Japanese people. "Total
Eclipse Of The Heart" was composed by J.
Steinman and the Nicki French's version was
produced by British producers Mike Stock and Matt
Aitken, for Love This Records.
Nicki
also released a dance version of the hit "For All We Know", first
performed by the Carpenters. To attend different people, both "Total
Eclipse Of The Heart" and "For All We Know"
were released in romantic pop versions. In 1996, one year after the
release of "Total Eclipse Of The Heart", she
released "Is There Anybody Out There". It was composed by her producers
Stock and Aitken, and it was her first
non-cover song. Followed another dance hit, "Did You Ever Really Love Me".
With these songs, all from her debut album "Secrets",
Nicki French conquered many eurodance
fans worldwide with her beautiful and strong voice.
Her second album was entitled "French Revolution", and it contained the
song "Te Amo", which was a huge hit in Brazil.
It was released in U.K. in 1997.
After a long time touring the USA and UK, Nicki
French came back in 2000 with "Don't Play That Song Again". This song was
choosen to represent the United Kingdom in the
Eurovision Song Contest 2000. It was just # 14 in the competition, and #
34 in UK charts, but it finally gave something new to her fans. Now,
rumours say that she is preparing a new

French Press Biography
Nicki
French, Britain's top female singing export of 1995, who in less than nine
months has achieved worldwide sales of over two million singles with her
smash hit Total Eclipse Of The Heart, breaks off from her international
globe-trotting this month to promote the U.K. release of her latest
single, Is There Anybody Out There? The recording is taken from
Nicki's imminent debut album Secrets
and has been written and produced by the top team of Mike Stock and
Matt Aitken.
Is
There Anybody Out There?
is another powerful dance/pop ballad delivered in
Nicki's belting style, and the record is already filling dance
floors around the country ... the club version soared straight into the
Record Mirror Club pop Tip Chart at number four. The single released
on Mike Stock's Love This Records label (distributed through
Pinnacle) on 2 October.
Nicki
French's rise to international recording success has been truly
phenomenal. The release of Is There
Anybody Out There? comes exactly one year
after her electrifying dance version of Total Eclipse Of The Heart
- produced by Mike Stock and Matt Aitken - was
first released by Love This Records. First time around the single entered
only the lower end of the pop charts but, after being re-recorded and
subsequently re-issued in January, it became the first smash hit of 1995
by a new artist, reaching number five in the U.K. charts.
Since
then Nicki's recording has become a worldwide
smash hit. The single reached number two in the Billboard Hot 100
in the
U.S.,
and has spent six months on the chart there. It also reached number one in
Australia,
number two in
Hong Kong,
and has been number two for three weeks in
Canada.
Total Eclipse is currently climbing the Japanese pop charts where
Nicki recently returned from a promotional
tour.
Although
Total Eclipse Of The Heart was
Nicki's first ever record, she had already
been singing in clubs throughout the U.K. for several years beforehand.
During the last four years Nicki has gradually
built up her own successful solo singing career and her international
success has been a dream-come-true. "I've worked hard over the years,
performing in hundreds of clubs throughout the UK, and doing backing
vocals for loads of other singers, so it's great to finally have some
success in my own right," she says.
"Like
every other aspiring pop singer I always hoped that I'd get the chance to
make a hit record so when the opportunity came to work with Mike Stock and
Matt Aitken, who are Britain's most successful
record producers, I jumped at it. The last year has been just tremendous
and my feet have hardly touched the ground since the beginning of the
year."
Nicki
has now achieved that elusive international recording success and is
currently consolidating it with the international release of Did You
Ever Really Love Me, her last U.K. single. The leading U.S. music
trade magazine Billboard has predicted that Did You Ever Really
Love Me will be another huge American hit for Nicki,
describing the record as "irresistible" and commenting, "she
shines brighter within the context of an original tune that does not
solicit perpetual vocal comparisons to another artist".
Nicki
can also look forward to the U.K. release of her debut album Secrets
which is already out in the United States and Japan. The album will
include Total Eclipse Of The Heart and Is There Anybody Out There?, along
with eight other great tracks, ranging from dance-oriented numbers to
powerful ballads, all showcasing Nicki's
considerable vocal talents, and firmly endorsing the view that she is a
pop singer with a very bright recording future.
