Albuquerque Airport- Main Lobby

Albuquerque Trip 12/2/99-12/9/99

It was short, tiring and eventful. I had 4 things to keep track of when flying. The only way I can remember, is to remember the # of items, what they are, just have to come later. Purse, coat, camera and duffel-type bag. Three more than I usually have. When I got to Phoenix, I had a hard time getting down the narrow aisle of the airplane with all of the stuff I had with me. This will make sense later.

Don't know why, but for some reason, I remembered at which gate we arrived. This will make sense later.

A10, waaaay down at the end. You know how well I do with the walking thing. Got to the intersection (beginning of concourses A and B), and sat down to rest and to see what time the next flight left. Uggggh! No ticket. I had selected the first restroom I saw after deplaning, so I retraced my steps, to A10 restroom, looked under the stalls and no ticket. I had spotted a customer relations area when returning to the restroom almost back to the intersection of A and B, so I went back to talk to them about my plight- told them that I had lost my ticket. Probably fell out of my purse while trying to get down the narrow aisle. She asked my from which gate I had deplaned, and I very proudly announced that we had used A10. She called A10, and they had my ticket. Back allllllll the way down to A10. Told the gal I had lost my ticket, and she said I would have to go down to Customer Relations. I said, I had just come from there, then her lightbulb, however dull, lit up and I got my ticket back. Now, alllll the way down to the intersection of A and B. Sat down to rest and see what time the next flight left. Yikes! Originally, I had only 45 minutes, now I had 3 left. Allll the way down to B10, at the end of the concourse, of course. Got there, and the door was closed, but the agent was still there. He gave me and another fellow boarding passes and reopened the door. Whew! How dumb can you be? I have never lost a ticket in my entire life with all of the travelling I have done. What a workout. Felt like with all of the walking and semi-running that I had been to a gym.

Daddy just found out that morning that I was coming. I guess my sister Sally didn't want to set him up with possible disappointment, in case I didn't make it. She also didnt get the time right, so she was surprised to see me in what she thought was 2 hours early. And of course, Daddy was surprised as well. He was really glad to see me, as was I, him.

It snowed Friday night and my car was covered Saturday morning. Saturday, Sally and Dave (you can see their pictures at My Pictures) were supposed to play golf, but the 5 inches of snow that the club got didn't melt in time. Unusual. So they (golfing friends) all went bowling. One of her friends (?) got a party together and set it up at Sally's. 14 people showed up. Dave had just made Chili, and so all were fed. It did drain the liquor cabinet, though. The friends (?) replaced it all the next day. They are also the ones who paid for all of the bowling $140.00. Anyway, point being, I got in bed at 3:00am. Then as it turns out, the loudest of the party (the friend (?)) and her husband spent the night and it all started over again the next morning. I went back to bed around 1:00pm. It finally got quiet at about 3:00pm when they went home.

My other sister, Julie finally made it over Monday afternoon. Then, some wisenheimer thought we should go out to dinner. My favorite restaurant (Pauls Monterey Inn) and everyone else's too. Prime rib fills the plate and is about 2 inches thick. Think you could find that in California? Had a great time, a great fun waitress, great food. And again, the pictures are presented in My Pictures. Anyway, point being, got in bed at 1:00am. This is really hard on an old broad.

Next day was my travel day back home. Then I realized that I hadnt even taken a picture of Daddy. Did that! We forgot to take the picture that Sally wanted for her wallpaper on her computer. The flight didnt leave until noon and I was worried if I could move fast enough to make it. I did. Slept the hour between Albuquerque and Phoenix, and the 2 hours between Phoenix and Sacramento. Second leg of the trip was 1 hour late. Other than that, everything fine.
