Ronan Denies Acting Rumours
Ronan Keating has denied reports that he's planning to break into
acting.
According to a recent reports, the former Boyzone singer had
apparently signed-up with an American acting agency and was looking
for a suitable role for to kick-off his career as a thespian.
However, Ronan told us the story was the first he'd heard about it
and admitted that breaking into films is the last thing he wants to
do at the moment and even took a pop at those who do juggle singing
and acting.
"I just want to concentrate on the music," he admitted. "Those that
do it all, are less focused about what they do."
Nevertheless, Ronan did admit that, a few years ago, he did find
himself agreeing to do almost everything. Ronan said he soon realised
that finding time to concentrate on his music became more difficult.
"I was hosting TV shows like the Eurovision Song Contest and three
MTV Awards," he remembered, explaining, "I was totally blind to what
the hell I was doing. I just wanted to do everything. But now I
understand I want to do music. Last year, at the end of the last
album, I realised that music is all I want to do."
Well, luckily for Ronan, it looks like his devotion to his music has
worked out for him. With his critically-acclaimed second album,
Destination, due out on May 20th, the 25-year old father-of-two is
celebrating a current No. 1 single, If Tomorrow Never Comes.

Ronan Gives Westlife Quitting Advice
Ronan Keating says that pop music just isn't as good as it was, and
thinks that Westlife are currently the ones flying the flag for the
much-criticised genre.
"Pop isn't as good as it used to be." he told us recently. "Back in
the 90's, Take That were a fantastic pop band. And when you look at
the 80's pop movement like Duran Duran, they had great pop songs. I
think the whole Pop Idol stuff has diluted what we do. A lot of
people say my stuff is not great but I think they're good pop songs."
While Ronan's not been shy about what he thinks about groups like
Hear'Say, he only has nice things to say about Westlife, the band he
managed in name only. "I like Westlife. I like what they're doing, I
think they make great pop records. They're talented. Bryan's a great
songwriter. Bop Bop Baby's a great pop song."
With three years of massive success behind them, it doesn't look like
the 'Life are nearing the end of their career just yet. But Ronan,
who broke up Boyzone while they were still scoring No. 1s, has some
advice for Shane, Bryan, Nicky, Kian and Mark:
"The best thing for any band is to end on top, it's sad to see any
band fade away, but it's up to them. As long as they keep bringing
out good records, there'll always be people to buy those records."

Ronan Slams Hear'Say
Nice guy Ronan Keating has put the boot into down-and-almost-out pop
band Hear'Say, claiming that their lack of good ditties is the reason
why the Popstars band are headed for the dumper.
Speaking recently, the pint-sized popster told us: "The songs aren't
good enough! They could have kept doing it if the songs had been good
enough, but they aren't and that's why people are going, 'Okay,
forget about them. Someone will replace them.'"
Meanwhile, Ronan also expressed concern for Will Young, admitting
that he's not sure if those pulling his strings have their his best
interests at heart, especially as Gareth Gates seems to have been
given preferential treatment since coming second in Pop Idol.
"The good thing is that both he and Gareth are very talented," Ronan
said. "The guys can sing. Thank God. It's scary to see it and who
they're surrounded by. I worry about that. I think it was terrible
that Will had a No. 1 record and then it was just handed over to
Gareth. It's all marketing."
Ronan, who looks set to crash into the No. 1 spot this weekend with
his single, If Tomorrow Never Comes, releases his second album,
Destination, on May 20th, which he has described as his "first real
body of work".

Ronan's Cover Going to the Top
Ronan Keating may be back at the top of the charts this weekend after
his recent cover version of the Garth Brooks song with sales
rocketing it through the midweek charts.
If Keating's cover, If Tomorrow Never Comes, continues to sell as
well as it had been doing for the past week it may hit the number one
spot.
Reports are that the single will knock the current number one from
Holly Valance Kiss Kiss from Number One.
It will be the first Number one the singer has had in a long time. B
It has already sold 150,000 copies despite being a cover version. The
original Garth Brooks version never really broke into the UK market
although was a big hit here in Ireland.
But as the song was not written by Ronan he will not get very much
money for the single, only performing royalties.
The singer is set to return to TV on May 18th when he can be seen
performing with the legendary Lulu on her Audience With TV show
alongside Samantha Mumba.

Ronan Calls Strokes' Album "pants"!
Ronan Keating has taken a pop at The Strokes, stating that he thinks
their much-hyped album, Is This It, is a load of "pants"!
When asked how he feels about credible bands like The Strokes and The
Hives receiving so many plaudits from the music press, the pint-sized
Irish popster exclusively told us: "It's the NME and Q who give those
bands respect, and boybands don't belong in those magazines. That's
fine. I know that. The magazines that respect us don't show respect
for them. We've all got our own sections of the industry that bands
like Westlife dominate and bands like The Strokes dominate. But when
you buy The Strokes' album, it's not as good as they say. I love The
Hives and The Vines, I like that kind of stuff, but when I bought The
Strokes album, I was very disappointed. The first single is
brilliant - a great pop song - but the rest of the album is pants!"
Ronan also said that he doesn't care anymore about people in the
industry thinking he's cool or not, admitting that he's much happier
in the knowledge that his music is being well-received by his fans
instead.
"I don't strive for it anymore," Ronan confessed. "We fought too much
in Boyzone to get that and we couldn't. We should have just shut up
and learnt our lesson and knew that we were a boyband. Now I just
want to make music and hope people like it. And that's the greatest
respect anyone can give - if people like your music. The industry
goes in and out of liking you, so who cares about that."
Ronan's single If Tomorrow Never Comes is out now, while his next
album, Destination, is released on May 20th.
