Yesterday Ronan Keating was in Sweden for a short visit.
GT met up with him and talked about the new record, being a father and life without Boyzone.

"I enjoy the freedom to do what I want and to have control over what I do," he says.

The boy band singer Ronan Keating has become his own boss. A little more than a year ago he solo debuted with the single from the film Notting Hill. "When You Say Nothing At All was very important to me. The song gave me the push I needed to make the decision to make my own record."

Ronan assures us that Boyzone still exists,despite the endless rumours that have been saying that the band is splitting up . "That is not true. We will do something together again next year."

Is there any tension between you?

"No, we’re still good friends, we often speak to each other and we meet whenever we can. "

Despite the fact that he’s only 23 he’s already been an idol for teenage girls for 7 years.

"It’s strange to think of it that way, time has really gone fast."

You were only 16 when you became famous. In retrospect was it too early?”

"No, it depends on what kind of person you are, not how old you are. I was ready when it happened to me. "

Do you regret anything you’ve done during these years?

"No. Everything I have done has shaped me into the person I am today."

Have you ever had a normal job?

"I worked in a shoe store once, that’s all. "

The wife yvonne and the son Jack, 1 year, are always travelling with him and they are here too, during the visit in Sweden. In February they will have their second child.

"Is Jack a spoilt child?

"We are very careful and try not to give him too many things. At the same time you want to spoil someone you love that much as you love your child.”"

You have many female fans. Is your wife jealous?

"Oh no, not at all. We love each other very much."

In November Ronan will be back in Stockholm, to attend the MTV EMA’s where he’s been nominated for Best Male Artist.

I look forward to that a lot. It was great news for me, when I was told about the nomination.

We say good bye and Ronan smiles his charming Boy Band Smile and wishes us a good day, then he rushes off. The family is waiting.
