Today, August 1, was our second doctor appointment -- and we could hear the heartbeat just whooshing along! What an experience! Dr. Brinkman did say I had put on a little too much weight -- stick to veggies rather than fruit!

Our very first doctor appointment -- We got all our questions answered, plus a prescription for prenatal vitamins (which make me really nauseous!)

The first sonogram -- Baby Pigott has a heart rate of 166, healthy and strong. So far, it looks like a minnow, but that will be changing soon! Due date is predicted for February 3, 2002.
At today's doctor appointment, the heartbeat was still strong, steady, and very healthy! Dr. Brinkman was much happier with my weight this time -- I guess all the turkey sandwiches, spinach salad, and aerobics tapes paid off! I've been feeling little twitches for the last week or two. I wasn't sure if that was the baby, but now I'm sure it is. One thing for sure: the baby loved tortilla chips and salsa!

Today's doctor appointment went well -- the doctor had to chase the heatbeat around my belly because the baby kept rolling! All is healthy, and my weight is right on target. This was a month of firsts. The baby woke me up kicking for the first time, Ron felt it kick for the first time, and we both saw my belly move for the first time! At next month's appointment, I'll be getting a sonogram -- we'll be able to videotape it, and hopefully find out the gender!

It's a......BOY!!! Our sonogram went very well -- all the detail was truly amazing! You could see all the little bones, ribs and spine. Even the heart and kidneys! We were so pleased to get a glimpse of our son, Nicholas Hawkins Pigott. All is well and very healthy! The baby is already on the large side -- over 3 pounds already. The due date is still February 3, 2002, which we just realized is Superbowl Sunday! Ack!

Nicholas is getting bigger and stronger every day! My doctor says that I am measuring about two weeks ahead of schedule, and that she wants a sonogram on January 7 to see just how big this kid is getting. It's looking less and less likely that she is going to let me carry all the way the February 3! So it could be a January baby after all. I don't mind a bit -- the sooner Ron and I can hold our son in our arms, the better! Nicholas is truly our Christmas gift.

We're really on the home stretch now. During my sonogram on January 7, we found out that Nicholas is already an estimated 7 1/2 pounds, with 3-inch long feet -- what a kid. Dr. Brinkman said she didn't want me to go to my due date of February 3 with him already that large, so.....induction is scheduled for Wednesday, January 23! Watch for Nick's first pictures soon after that!
