The Lord's Name

It is suggested in most Lexicons that Yeshua was formerly Joshua. It was not. Yeshua is derived from Yeshuaht which means salvation. Yeshua means Savior. Moses stood on the shore of the Red sea and said, stand by and see the salvation, Yeshuaht, of the Lord, Exodus 14:13. The same word is found in Isaiah 26:18, 2 Chronicles 20:17, Psalms 118:21 and all over the Bible still meaning salvation. The Lord's name is derived from salvation and it was never Joshua. Therefore, Strong's number 2424 that is usually translated Jesus, is Yeshua, Savior. Hence, what Gabriel said speaking to Mary, Matthew 1:21, "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Yeshua: for he shall save his people from their sins." If it were not so that statement would not make sense. The One who saves is called The Savior.

This may not seem important to many, but I believe it is. Since prayers should be directed to Him, it is wise to use His Name. I believe He allows some leeway in this if we say 'Lord', but since the kingdom is a family affair, family members really should know one another's name.
