BACK IN TEXAS

I'm now officially re-patriated to my home state of Texas.  These pictures captured the homecoming.  Other than being nasty hot in the summertime, it's a great place to live.

S.W.T. LANHAM:

S.W.T. Lanham  was my great-great grandfather on my mother's side.  He served as a U.S. Representative for approximately 16 years before becoming Governor of Texas  (1903-1907).  Click on the link to read a nice bio.

TEXAS COAST:

I drove down to the Texas coast over Labor Day weekend.  I had just bought a new car and needed to do some serious driving.  Also, I hadn't been down there in over 10 years.  I started off in Galveston, then I took the back roads to Corpus Christi, Port Aransas and Padre Island.  And of course I ate lots of seafood while I was there.

LBJ RANCH:

I recently took a tour of the birthplace and boyhood home of President Lyndon B. Johnson out in Johnson City, TX.  I also drove around the LBJ Ranch and saw lots of great sights.

TEXAS STATE HISTORY MUSEUM:

These photos are from the  Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum  in Austin.

You can view the pictures individually below, or you can go here to see a  slideshow  (Note: You may need to refresh your browser or click the link again to get the show to start).  By moving your mouse cursor to the top of any slide photo, you can open up the controls to adjust the speed of the show, pause, go back, forward, etc.  You can also pause any slide by clicking in the middle of the photo.

FAMILY REUNION:

We had a big family reunion in Fredericksburg, TX.  It was really fun to be with my immediate and extended family, and to see some relatives I hadn't seen in a long time.
