A Fading Song

My song is old and faded

Tattered and worn away

The words lost their meaning

Yet something is left to say

The tune is an endless battle

Forging the tempered blade

To carve a land of peace

Then slice our souls away

My love yet remains

Though he wears another’s form

My love yet remains

Awaiting in the storm

Our faces are long forgotten

But the song still remains

Trapped in the storm wind

You can hear it’s soft strains

The time is gone and passing

And we must travel on

The last words are fading

Yet still we hear the song

I’ve been waiting such a time my love

Waiting for our song

And Fate she laughs and watches

As we wait another round

In a time he was a sailor

Upon the open sea

And I was a fair wind

Carrying him away from me

Soon the time will come my love

When the stars align

Then we’ll be together love

And the song our loving sign

Our song is surely endless

A restless tide to be

To draw us together

Then pull him away from me

My song is old and faded

Tattered and worn away

The words lost their meaning

Yet something is left to say

In time he was a warrior

Fighting upon the field

And I merely a fair maid

Behind another’s shield

My love yet remains

Though he wears another’s form

My love yet remains

Awaiting in the storm
