| The 1956 flag change was not a move that was sought by Georgians, nor did the Daughters of the Confederacy like the change. In what proponents call a measure to honor the centennial of the Civil War, six years would yet to pass before such a flag change was necessary to celebrate such an occasion. So, why did they change it 14 days after Dr. King's home was bombed?
