| Ryan began playing baseball after the first grade, and played up until his eighth grade year for Willow Lake. His coaches were Matt Reints and Greg VanHeukelom. Known to strike out more than anyone else, Glanzer also provided a large amount of power. Most of his hits were long outfield flies. His most incredible moment was hitting three home runs in a game, and then two more in the next game. Four of the five homers were grand slams. A Jose Canseco-type hitter (many strikeouts, occasional power), Glanzer was summoned to third and first base as a fielder. In the early days he was sent to patrol right field. He eventually went on to play two seasons of 5x5's in Willow Lake, where he pitched. Although the team only won four times in two years, Glanzer managed to pitch a 2-hit shutout once. |
