2. Go to the directory of kernel source - cd /usr/src/linux

3. Copy config file of current kernel - cp /boot/config-2.x.etc .config

4. Execute make oldconfig

5. Prepare modules part of kernel - make modules_prepare

6. OK, now whe are ready to exec vmware-config.pl
