This is my final fit,
My final bellyache,
With no alarms and no surprises.
Radiohead.
It ended much the same way as it started. Adelaide airport staff giving
me the third degree.
"Just a routine search Mr Arthur, do you have any fruit or vegetables in your
bags?"
"Nope, just your usual stash of heroin."
This time I got a smile out of the guy, but it didn't really matter. Smile
or no smile, I was home and he was hardly going to deport me.
My god it's been so long,
Never dreamed you'd return.
Pearl Jam.
After collecting me from the airport one of my best mates and I sat on a terrace
of Rundle Street, basking in the morning sun, enjoying a cappuccino
"Is Rundle Street always this quiet in the morning?"
"Quiet. It's 9 O'Clock,
this is peak hour mate."
For some reason the streets seemed a lot quieter, wider and cleaner than I
had remembered. A visit to my sister's house also put things back in perspective.
Such a pretty house,
Such a pretty garden,
No alarms and no surprises.
Radiohead.
University began the same day I got off the plane. I ran into a familiar face
yet I could not remember your name.
I seem to recognise your face,
Haunting familiar yet I can't seem to place
it,
I cannot find the candle of thought to light your name,
Lifetimes
are catching up with me.
Pearl Jam.
As I end this journal, I close a chapter of my life. Romanian Traffic is the
largest endeavour I have ever undertaken. I never imagined it would turn
out the way it did, but I would not change a second of it. I have learned
about culture, business, and life, gained experience and made a network of friends
along the way. I enter a new chapter in my life feeling a lot more
focused and sure of the person I am than ever before.
What a year it has been,
What a year it has been,
Lost my love, shed
my skin,
What a year it has been.
Alex Lloyd.
I live in North Adelaide, just off O'Connell Street with two International students
from Singapore. It is a 15-minute walk across the River Torrens to my
University where I am studying my honours degree in Marketing and tutoring first
year students in Information Systems. I keep a hand written journal
Well that's about it from me and my friends
Back to Mundane Monday.
I guess
my point is I think we're all fucked up in our way,
you know, but we're
all doing it together.
We're freestyling on the book of "Wheel of Life",
trapped
in a world of internal dialogue.
Like Bill Hicks said,
"It's
an insane world, but I'm proud to be part of it."
Human Traffic.
