Barcelona is surely one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world, where

most of the tourists come to visit from Europe and all over the world.

Barcelona a terrific place to to take a vacation that mixes beautiful

beaches, art and an amazing city. The beaches located over the

Mediterranean sea are simple amazing, you can find a really

crowded beach right next to the city, or a hidden and peaceful spot not far

from it either. the clear water allows you to practice snorkeling, diving or

simply swimming in its warm water, Barcelona is in part a live museum

itself because the important architecture and monuments that can be foud

everywhere.

Gaudi who could be called either artist, architect or inventor, is

a great example. Antoni Gaud� i Cornet was born on June 25, 1852, in Reus,

Catalonia and left a lot of important works in Catonia as well in different places
along Spain, Maybe his more important works are The monumental church, El
Temple Expiatori dela Sagrada Fam�lia (Expiatory Temple of the Sacred

Family), Casa Mila (Mila House) also known as La Pedrera (the quarry),

Thecolorful Casa Batlls (Batlls House) a numerous work he did for the Guells:

The Pavellons Guell (1884-1887) Palau Guell (1886-1888), Guell Cellars

(1895-1898), the Crypt of the Colonia Guell (1898-1908) and the fantastic

Park Guell (1901-1914). Gaudi�s other distinctive buildings include the austere

Teresian College (1888-1889), Casa Calvet (1898-1900), one of the only works
for which Gaudi won an award.

"Barrio Gotico" (The Gothic neighborhood) is a very old part of the city

there are buildings from 14 th century, with narrows street and a lot of history,

It is really worth to taking a walk and maybe getting lost inside all the history

and magic that place has. "La Rambla" o "Les Rambles" is a pretty lively and

colorful area pretty close to barrio gotico is a sort of pedestrian street where

there are a lot of bars, different markets, and of a lot of artists like jugglers,

painters, pappeters and others that perform for tips. At the end of "Les

Rambles" you can find "Plaza the Catalonia". Beyond that is the new part of

the city, where in 1854 the medieval wall of the city were pulled down, There

is the new part of the city or "The Eixample" which is like an open museum

ofModernist Art. Modernism is a mixture of architecture, painting and

sculpture. The are more than a thousand Modernist Buildings in "The

Eixample" Catalonia has centuries of history, witht cultural and pollical

connection to many part of the Mediterranean, now part of the Spain, People

retain a distinct language, sense of nationality and unique cuisine.

Catalan is the official language that is kind of Spanish and French blend

among others. It is spoken in "Catalonia" as it is named for the state that has

tried several time to tear apart from Spain.

A lots of different Festivals are celebrated in Catalonia, and a smart thing is

to attend to them.

There are many Bars, so it is well advisable to make your own tour through

them , to pick some of them every day and try their different liquors, wines

and food such a "Tapas".

During the summer there is very big festivals and holidays where people

get together on the street , it is very impressive to see such a spontaneous

party going until dusk, The only comparablement would be "the Carnaval" of

Brasil.
