It was voted school of the year by the North American Sport Karate Association, a tournament group that promotes karate tournaments throughout the United States. The Folsom school, which is run by third-degree black belt Scott Todd, won best demonstration team (which presents various fighting skills in weapons and empty hand, as well as board breaking) in 1998 and 1999.
