My Childhood Story

When I was five years old, my mother gave birth to my sister Arlene. I was the oldest and I wanted a sister to keep me company. So my mom had my sister.

I was so exited when she first came home because I had a new baby sister. My grandmother thought I would be jealous because I wouldn't be the center of attention anymore, but I didn't mind. I couldn't wait to care for her and teach her new things. I wanted to feed her and play with her, but my mom said I was too little. She said that Arlene was too young and delicate for me to hold. I had to find a way to play with her!

When my mom went to take a shower, she left my sister in her crib and I was watching television. I took advantage and somehow someway I managed to take Arlene out of her crib. Finally I got to play with her.

When my mom came back into the room she found me holding my sister. She was so angry because she never thought I would dare to take my sister out of her crib. She was afraid I would drop her. I got into trouble, but after that my mom let me hold my sister whenever I wanted to as long as she was there.

I felt so grown up because I could help my mom take care of my sister. That's why I love babies. When my cousins want to go out they always leave their babies with me because they know I enjoy them.  Hopefully someday I'll have one or two of my own.
