Act Two Scene One

In this scene Gabe gets arrested for disturbing the peace. Troy had gone to see what happened. He ended up bailing him out for 50 dollars. As Bono helps Troy cut some wood to build his fence, he tells him how he feels about Troy having an affair on Rose with Alberta. He convinces Troy to do the right thing and tell Rose. Troy then goes to Rose and confesses about the affair and tells her that Alberta is pregnant. They get into a big argument. Things escalate when Rose says that Troy takes and never gives. Troy gets upset and he grabs Rose by the arm and starts to yell at her. That is when Cory comes to protect his mother. He jumps on Troy’s back and Troy goes to hit Cory, but stops himself and warns him about his strikes.

I thought this chapter was interesting because I remember whenever my mom and dad had an argument I always got involved because I wanted to protect her. I don’t blame Rose for her reaction to what Troy told her. If I was Rose I don’t know what I would have done. I would have probably thrown him out of my house right off the bat.

 Act Two scene Three

In this scene Troy comes home with his daughter from Alberta. He comes home with her because Alberta died while giving birth to Troy’s daughter. So now Troy comes home with this little three day old baby and he asks Rose to help him. At first Rose doesn’t care and she ignores him. Then Troy sits on the porch and he is talking to the baby loud enough for Rose to hear. Finally Rose is convinced and she decides to keep the baby. Not because of Troy, but because the baby doesn’t have a mother.

I found this chapter interesting because rose was a strong woman. She chose to accept the fact that her husband had an affair and on top of that she chose to take care of a baby that wasn’t even hers. She is a really brave character.

 Act Two scene Five

It is 1965. Rose, Raynell, Bono, and Lyons are getting prepared to go bury Troy. Corry comes home from the marines. He finds his little sister Raynell in the yard; she doesn’t remember him so he asked her to get her mom. That’s when everyone comes out to say hello to him. Raynell is getting to know her brother for the first time because she was a baby when he left. Now she is seven. At the end Corry and Raynell sing the song about Blue. Then their uncle Gabriel comes from the hospital for the funeral.

I chose to summarize this scene because when I read the part were Corry and Raynell were singing the Blue song I realized that Troy was like the dog Blue. When Troy died his family buried him. Troy lived a hard life like a dog.
