All My Sons

Journals:
1. Is it morally acceptable for a brother to marry his deceased brother's fiancé? Explain.

I don't think that is acceptable at all. It is not acceptable because the same way if his brother was alive, he would not try to take his wife. I could understand if he helped the wife take care of the children once in a while, but not to remarry her.

2. Is it wise to keep the truth from the mother that her son is dead and let her continue hoping? How would you handle the situation if you were a family member?

I would tell her the truth because the longer she doesn't know about it, when she does finds out it will hurt her more than ever. If I was the family member It would be hard on me, but I would get through it. When one of my uncles passed away, I had to tell my grandmother, but I told her right away because that way she could get all of her tears out.

Hw#3 Answer questions f, h, I, m, and n.

f. Describe your impression of Chris.

I think Chris is a honest guy. For anything Mr. Keller said he has a smart remark. You could tell they don’t get along.

h. What seems to be the conflicts between Chris and Mr. Keller?

They don't get along and I don't think they trust each other.

i. What kind of woman is Kate Keller? What kind of role does she play in the Keller's family?

Kate seems to hold the family intact and she is the mother.

l. Who is Ann? What kind of relationship is there between Ann and the Keller's family? Why is she here?

Ann is Chris's fiancée. She used to be their neibor and she is there because Chris invited her.

m. What seems to be the conflict between Chris and his mother Kate?

The conflict is that she doesn't want Chris to marry Ann.

n. Why does Kate insist that Larry is still alive, and Ann still in love with him? What does this say about Kate's personality?

Because she feels that he might still be alive some were. She thinks Ann is still in love with him because she is staying in his old room. This says that Kate is a believer and she has allot of faith.

Classwork#5

Browse five poems from the above list and select One poem (Copy the poem onto your web page about All My Sons.) to answer the following two questions:

The feelings that were revealed in the poem were the man wanted to help all the soldiers but he couldn’t because there were too many.

You could picture him talking to the soldiers before they died and him in the trenches just thinking of a way he could help them.

                    The Messages

"I cannot quite remember. . . . There were five

Dropt dead beside me in the trench -- and three

Whispered their last messages to me. . . ."

Back from the trenches, more dead than alive,

Stone-deaf and dazed, and with a broken knee,

He hobbled slowly, muttering vacantly:

"I cannot quite remember. . . . There were five

Dropt dead beside me in the trench, and three

Whispered their dying messages to me. . . . "

Their friends and waiting, wondering how they thrive --

Waiting a word in silence patiently. . . .

But what they said, or who their friends may be

"I cannot quite remember. . . . There where five

Dropt dead beside me in the trench -- and three

Whispered their dying messages to me. . . ."

HW#6 Read Act ll and rewrite the story from George's point of view describing what happened between Ann's father and Mr. Keller, and why Ann's father was jailed.

Journal Writing
If you find out that your parents or guardians commit a crime because they had to protect you or the family, would you send them to jail? What would you do especially after you realize that their crime has hurt innocent people?

No I wouldn't send them to jail because they were only trying to protect they family. After I found out that innocent people were hurt I would have to live with that fact. At least I know they did it to protect the family.
