How I Got Into UH sports: Well, ever since the days of Aaron Wilton, what local girl hasn't been into volleyball?  Nah, I only started really following back in '99 when I noticed a hottie named Clay Stanley...And then my friend Kellie got me into football this past year cause she would always talk about what a cutie Timmy Chang was.  To be honest, even though Timmy's pretty nice looking, he wasn't the one who caught my eye, but to make a long story short, Jacob Espiau taught me that football's cool!

How I Got Into Apolo Anton Ohno: Okay, it all started on February 16, 2002.  I was sitting at my computer working on my loads of homework when I overheard my parents talking about some 19 y/o speed skater from Seattle.  They were arguing over whether he was Japanese or not, because as most Oriental people know, Ohno isn't the usual spelling of that name, but I digress.  My mom told me to watch him skate; not only was he suppose to be very talented, but even my mom thought he was super cute!  And my mom knows what kind of boys I dig, so of course, I turn around to watch the race.  Wow!  I was hooked from that point on, even if Apolo didn't win (he got silver).  And, to be honest, I hated the soul patch at first.  I don't usually like facial hair on a guy, especially goatees, but the more I watched Apolo, the more it grows on you.  It's almost like algae, hee hee.

Anyway, Apolo seems like a really nice, cool kind of guy.  I like his hair, his smile, his deep, scruffy voice, and best of all, his sincerity.  It's always a pleasure to see guys who are cordial and gracious after they win OR lose.  That's a major rarity nowadays.  I also admire him for being able to turn his life around from hanging out with gang members to winning a gold medal in short track.  A person must have a lot of determination and strength to accomplish a feat of that calibur.  He's no longer just a rebel, but a rebel with a cause.  I really respect that and that's why I like Apolo so much.
