MT. PULOG, Benguet

Joel Vitug,  Looking over UST Mountaineers
crossing Kabayan hanging bridge

October 1989     Self portrait

The  second highest mountain in the Philippines, the highest in Luzon. Considered the coldest and the best first major mountaineering experience offered to new mountaineers. Most induction climbs are held in this mountain. The whole climb takes four days via Kabayan trail.

The mountain looks more like a foreign alpine mountain rather than a local one.   Pine trees, wild berries and freezing temperature create a place you can't experience anywhere elase in the Philippines.
