LAKE CALIRAYA, Cavinti Laguna |

Lake Calirayain Cavinti, Laguna is a popular destination for weekend boaters and campers. The lake has lots of resorts that offers cottages, tents or just plain camp grounds. It can accommodate big families for picnics. Most resorts offer row boats, jet skis, sailboards and other watercrafts. You can also hire local outrigger boats (bancas) for a better tour of the whole lake. The lake's floor is muddy but the water is good enough for swimming. It is advisable to wear Personal Floatation Device while in the water or in the banca because the lake floor shifts on a person's weight. Our Team Captain Fred Porio arranged our last training session in Caliraya. Joining us as support crew for the training were Benjie Encarnacion and Vic Baloco and as support crew's support was Naidz. Upon arrival we unloaded our bikes and practiced in several downhill and uphill trails in the area. We went back after two hours to eat lunch prepared by our support crew. Simulating a real adventure race, we proceeded to banca rowing. In real adventure race, there is no time for resting. We rowed 'til the sun goes down the horizon, then we finished the water section by swimming across the Lake. We had dinner at a slower pace then biked for another two hours along the highways of Cavinti. I've had another encounter with several dogs during our ride back to camp. Exhausted and hungry, we had our last snack, a good bath and went straight to sleep, soundly! We did everything again the next day. The second, third and fourth photo were taken during the shooting of Pangako Sa'yo TV series where Ms. Amor Powers (Eula Valdez) and Eduardo Buenavista (Tonton Gutierrez) had their Honeymoon in a Lakeside Resort. I was there to provide the art materials and props for the tutoring session between the two actors. Incidentally, a good friend Vanee Manzo was also on a company outing in another resort not far from where we were. I didn't tell her I was going there and was able to surprise her by paying her a visit on a bike borrowed from the resort's caretaker. |
