With Rollover Records under the Fed's watchful eye, Darkbrown & Dru decide it's best they depart from the lable. We caught up with Dru of the powerhouse duo and found out exactly why this departure....
Interviewer:"It's been a tough year for Rollover Records, Darkbrown & Dru.So why did you two decide to leave the lable at a time like this?"
Dru:"Well things were never really peaches and cream over at Rollover. Everything the public seen was a front. It's was never a tight knit family like the public may have thought. I had plans since September 2003 to leave the lable, but I had to convince Darkbrown that we are destined to be on a bigger stage than they we're putting us on."
Interviewer: "So you're saying you had to put on the happy face in public, but it was a ficade. So why did you plan to leave the lable in Sept 03'?"
Dru: "As you know, our album came out in June of 2003. All the promotion the lable was supposed to take care of, they didn't. All the touring we were supposed to be doing, we didn't. All the money that was supposed to be spent in pushing this album to the limit, they didn't do. So in a sense, I felt betrayed. I felt like, Damn, I've signed a contract with this company, and put my heart in this product, and they were just sitting on it."
Interviewer: "So basically, outside of Ga, you're unknown???"
Dru: "That's not true. We are know up and down the East coast. We are featured on mixtapes in NYC that are actually getting a strong buzz.Darkbrown did a song with the chick that's in Benzino's camp. We're currently working on this track with Stat Quo(Shady/Aftermath) that oughtta be off the meat rack, so we're staying busy. People know the name"
Interviewer: "So people want to know, when is the next album coming."
Dru: "We're already done with the next album, but we're waiting until September to release it. We gotta get that buzz again. We will release a mixtape called"Kings of Kuntryversy:Volume 1" in March 05'."
Interviewer:" Any guest appearences?
Dru: "Yep,but you'll have to wait to see who's on the album.You will be shocked..."
Interviewer:"Can you elaborate on the legal situation that the Rollover CEO's are in???"
Dru: "No, my lawyers have advised me to keep quiet about the situation"
Interviewer: "Do you still talk to any of them?"
Dru: "No, but it's not because of the situation,it's by choice...."
