| ATTENTION ALL CLASSIC CAR OWNER'S!!!! * If you have a car that is 25 years or older, you can get antique plates. The plates are available at your local tax office. You do not have to wait for them to be mailed. The tax office has them in stock! The cost is only $61.30 for a FIVE YEAR PERIOD! * You can drive the car to car shows, parades, and club activities. Club activities include, car club meetings, exhibitions, or a day of cruizin with your car club. * Your car is also exempt from inspection with antique plates. * There is an insurance exemption form that is offered at the Department of Public Safety. Simply, fill out the exemption form and have it notarized. Mail it to Austin for their records. It usually takes about two weeks before you receive it back. You carry this insurance exemption form in your car for your driving purposes.
