Our team competed this past weekend at the ECHO tournament in Williamsport, PA. Despite going 1-3 we showed great promise for any upcoming events. We came out our first game and lost to the Cougars 6-2. Not only were we intimidated, but the team did not play well at all. The second game against the Williamsport Patriots was the determining game for wether we would advance or not. We came out playing a very physical brand of hockey, and were able to move the puck with ease against the Patriots. Although we only won 2-1, we dominated the entire game. Our third game was against the Altoona Stingers. After scoring the game's first goal, we played very poorly for the remainder of the first period, and trailed 6-1. The second period we played much better but still lost 8-2. During the elminiation round we played the Philadelphia Flames. After the first period, the game was tied at one, and both teams were playing very sound defense. We came out and scored in the first minute of the second period to take a 2-1 lead, but a couple huge lapses on defense let the Flames pull away with a 4-2 win.
We had try-outs last month, and have practiced together for the last couple of weeks. The team, in its first year of existance, will be traveling to play at the ECHO tournament in Williamsport, PA on April 5-7. We also will be playing in the TSI league that will go on through out the summer. This league is also in its first year. The team, although new, is made up of many experienced players with many different playing backgrounds.
