The K series was produced from 1966 to 2007. The K series was designed for the introduction of the Corolla. They were a pushrod 2-valve aluminium head, cast iron head engine. They are a slant four design with an angle of 30o.

There were two verisons of the 1K motor:
1K and 1K-B. The 1K-B was a higher power version sporting twin carburettors.

The 3K-R is a special one. It was a TRD built and developed version for Tom's racing. It was put in a KP47 starlet and won the 5th race at Fuji in 1975. There were only 25 of these engines ever produced.
