Jokkmokk Vintermarknad 5/2 - 2005                                                                                 back to homepage         back to weblog

On Friday evening before the trip to Jokkmokk we decided to take it easy and have just dinner at Kathie's place.

Our meal this evening: delicious salmon after a Finnish recipe

...and a  exquisite "blåbär paj"

myself hungry, Stefan, Antti and Linda

The polar circle, our first (and only) stop during the trip to Jokkmokk.

With two charming girls from Austria

.... and three charming boys from Switzerland

On the Jokkmokk winter market: Marc was enthusiastic when seeing a Komatsu forestry machine
it is unknown if he bought it or not.

Daniel, wearing the latest fashion of Jokkmokk

... and some other impressions from the market

 Tea time outside...

 ... and inside

on the frozen lake you could go for dog-sledding or helicopter flights

and of course, there where also some rendeers

at 2 o'clock then the highlight of the day:
 rendeer races!
as you see it was quite popular and crowded

  Race action!

after the race we went to the "party tent", it was quite funny
allmost everybody was already drunken in there at three,
I think that's why the locals like this market so much.

Do it like the Finns do, buy beer for the bus
 ... and it worked!
The way back seemed to be much shorter.
