Sayaka was born in Hokkaido, 33 years ago. She was raised in a
place where, despite the time and the age, women were expected to get
a good education, so that they could get a good job... so that they
could meet a good, high-earning, well-educated husband, quit that job,
and live their lives as a housewife. Not every woman did this,
and not every woman wanted this, but this is how they were taught to
think, and how so many still believe, no matter what else happens in
women's lib. Such was the way Sayaka was taught, and,
unquestioningly, she obeyed. She studied as good as she could,
gaining a very high GPA in all of her schooling, and graduating one of
the most prestigious colleges in Japan, Waseda University, in Tokyo,
with a degree in Education. At the age of 21, her parents,
thinking that it would look very good on her resume, told her to go to
America, and teach Japanese there for a few semesters. She
obeyed, dutifully... not knowing what would await her.In the United
States, she began to learn how appreciated she was for her
intelligence, and her ability to think well. She also learned
that, even though she was a woman, she was not expected to just be a
wife... she could be whatever she wanted to be, do whatever she wanted
to do. And so, instead of returning to Japan, she decided to
stay on, and go back to college. 12 years later, she has just
finished her Doctorate in Astrophysics, has had her Masters Degree in
Astronomy for a year, and finished her Doctorate in Quantum Physics
four years prior... a VERY heavy load for most others, but, somehow,
she managed to do it with only moderate difficulty, and almost
constant work.
This year, she has been hired on... as of the Spring Semester, to
be a professor at Brentford North University. Her classload, as
of now, is still unknown, but will probably be at least one Quantum
Physics class, one Astrophysics class, one Astronomy class, and,
maybe, one Japanese Language class. Probably more, though.
