History

Mathew Douglas was born on October 4th, 1972, in Kansas City, MO.  His parents were a former Vietnam War veteran / pilot and a Vietnam War M.A.S.H. nurse.  Growing up with the stories of his father's missions in Vietnam, Matt desired nothing more than to be an Air Force pilot.  He worked hard, studied hard, got himself in the best physical and mental shape possible, and, with his father's help, he followed in the elder Douglas' footsteps, and upon graduation of high school, was awarded an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy.

However, things didn't quite work out as planned.

During his Second Class Year, Matt was falsely accused of being a part of a group who had raped three Fourth Year Girls, and was immediately expelled from the Academy.  But before he had even received a plane ticket home, a man met with him, explaining that he was a recruiter.  A very special recruiter, for a special organization that had taken notice of his potential piloting skills (as judged from his flight time with the Academy piloting team on T-3s), as well as his intellectual prowess.  Accepting immediately, Matt was brought into another world.  The world of the Technocratic Union.

The world of the Void Engineers.

Two years into his training, a very specialized training, Matt's consciousness finally became Enlightened, and he understood from a first person perspective the true nature of the Union.  After another year, Matt's training was complete, and he was assigned as the helmsman to a Void Engine.  And for the next four years, Matt rarely ever saw the Earth... spending most of his time exploring the furthest reaches of space.  Encountering both alien life and the Etherites, Matt gained a deep-seated hatred of aliens, a deep dislike of all Traditions Mages, an extreme confidence in his abilities, and an even deeper curiosity about everything around him.

His journeys continued for four years.  Until 1999... when the "Red Star" first appeared, and all Engine missions were canceled.  He was almost immediately reassigned to an R&E Unit for three years, and then, for the past year, to an NSC team, working directly with the NWO.  And now, he has been assigned to Brentford... doing pretty much whatever he is assigned to do.
