History

Decades ago, mixed marriages were unheard of in the United States. The subject itself was considered to be taboo, and if such marriages were discovered, the parties involved were either shunned from society or murdered in cold blood by one racist group or another.

While perhaps not on as grand of a scale, the same could be said for the Silver Fang Tribes. Many individuals, still even today consider anyone who would marry another from another tribe to be betraying the true heritage, and showing a distinct disregard for proper breeding. Of course, marriages or unions that are considered to be acceptable are either arranged, or forged through a necessity on some political level of some sort. Very few unions are made due to the emotions of love. If love is involved, it often tends to simply be convenience that accompanies the former requirements. This is the story of such a union, and the children that this very union produced.

From birth, Alexander Kanevsky had been the Philodox of the Renewal party who constantly pushed the lid of the envelope when it came to aiding the Royalists and the Reformists within the House of the Crescent Moon alone, in reaching agreements. Perhaps that is why the name Forger-of-Peace was bestowed upon Alexander after his Rite of Passage. Little did Alexander know that this very reputation would lead him to a union of remarkable breeding later on.

As a young, eligible Garou, the Kinfolk in Russia eyed Alexander almost greedily as far as mating was concerned. As Alexander’s father believed in allowing his son to carefully devise of a way of choosing the appropriate mate, Alexander of course worried his Elders a great deal. He refused proposals from kinfolk and arranged marriages from the Garou who came to him. It seemed he would mate only when he saw fit to do so. Not to say that Alexander wasn’t feeling any pressure of course. Even his pack Alpha attempted to coerce him into mating with a daughter of his.

As concerned as the elders were however, someone or some force saw fit to guide Alexander to his future mate in a manner that of course is rather befitting of a Philodox. A conflict between the House of the Gleaming Eye and the House of the Crescent Moon arose when a Cliath of Crescent Moon saw fit to strike a kinfolk while visiting a Sept in France. One would expect such a situation to be handled by the Cliath’s elders as well as the elders of the French Sept however, Ragabash humor settled in when rumors distorted the situation beyond all recognition, painting either the Kinfolk or Cliath as a sinister villain or helpless victim. Rather than risk further intertribal conflict, the Elders of the Crescent Moon sent Alexander as a neutral mediator or judge of sorts. Although he was a part of the same House as the Cliath, Alexander was not a member of the same Sept, and his reputation of being fair and trustworthy far preceded him.

As he presided over the ‘case’, Alexander’s eyes fell upon the lithe, beautiful form of Alexandra du Pont, a well bred kinfolk with a reputation of being a wild, fiery young kinfolk with a notable heritage. The two mated within a week over a negotiated agreement. Together, the two sired three children: two boys and one girl. The childhood and teenaged years for the trio were short lived however as complications accompanied the youngest, Aliyah Kanevskya’s birth. Alexandra passed away two months later.

This portion of the Kanevsky family history covers the progression of Sergi Kanevsky, the second of the three Kanevsky children. As it stands, the union of Sergi’s parents further preserved the Silver Fang Tribe’s sense of tradition. Not only was the union a match of well-bred individuals, it was arranged politically in exchanged for Alexander’s assistance in matters which further concerned his elders in France. While the Union was respected and admired by most of the Silver Fang tribe, Alexandra’s brother Gabriel despised it. Gabriel du Pont felt that something horrid would happen to his sister if she journeyed with Alexander to Russia. News of Alexandra’s death only proved he was right.

While it seemed Aliyah, the youngest of the three siblings, turned out to be a kinfolk, Sergi and his brother bore the mark of the wolf... After Ailyah was sent away to her family in France, Sergi began to train for that life which was expected of him... basically, to become the most successful Speaker of Spirits possible, and bring honor to the family name.  His Aunt Elise, of the strictly traditional House, trained him in all the ways of the Theurge, preparing him for the position.  Sergi's father pushed him gently towards doing whatever HE, Sergi, wanted, not what the tribe said was best.  Following this rebellious attitude, Sergi followed his father and joined the Renewal Party as soon as he could.  He did learn what he could about the spirits, the occult, and tribal medical practices, but not for the Tribe's purposes... for his own.  And of course, as a male, he was taught to fight---his father believed he would be attacked for his rebellious attitudes, and wished him to be able to protect himself.

Family time? Sergi was raised with his older brother, and, until she was six, his sister.  After that, he saw his sister several times a year of course, over all of the major holidays... until she was 10, that is.  His father eventually successfully attained the position of Beta of his Sept, causing him to be away from his children much more often, and to leave Sergi to fight off the daunting, Traditionalist influences of his aunt alone, which he did, but only just.

The last time he heard from his sister was when she was fourteen years of age, when she became so much like her mother used to be, so stiff and unyielding that Sergi was unsure he truly wished TO see her.  Luckily, she escaped her uncle, with only one scar remains across her back where a single claw struck it’s first and only blow, and was sent  to a boarding school in England. Of course, he didn't know all of the facts about this, not until years later.  His brother began to train for a high position in their local Caern, and Sergi's attitudes had began to strain his relations with many others in the family... who sometimes referred to him as his father's living-reincarnation.

His Rite of Passage was a truly momentous occasion for him.  After years and years of study, he finally got the name and basic history of every one of his family, dating back 15 generations, memorized, and was able to recite it perfectly, from memory... meaning he had to stand there, not move, and speak it without hesitation.  His voice was both commanding and enthralling, and everyone present in the Caern listened with all their hearts and ears, so to speak.  The deed which brought him to the rank of Fostern was much more demanding.  Learning of his Uncle's attack on his baby sister, Sergi was thrown into a near Rage situation, and traveled, on his own (well, alone, with two neutral witnesses from his hometown), to France, where he challenged his Uncle to combat.  His Uncle's terms were weapon, and then hand-to-hand, and the duel was called for sunrise the next day.  Sergi fought hard, and though his sword was taken from him in the first two minutes, he was able to wrestle his uncle's weapon from him, and then trounced him in hand-to-hand combat.  The defeat was great enough that the status of Fostern was bestowed upon the young Sergi.

With his father’s permission (though against the wishes of his Aunt), Sergi decided to gain an education in the medical field, as to help with his medical studies; he had decided on a path which went totally against his Aunt's desires... a Healer.. Hence, hearing Aliyah was relocating to Brentford to continue her own education, Sergi decided to follow her, written introduction from her father in hand.  He now resides there, attending North Brentford University medical classes.
