History

Born of a homid Bubasti and his kinfolk mate, Lukman was born of the Twilight Pryio at his home Pride in Egypt.  It was known early on that he would be Bastet, and was trained in the ways of the mystic Bubasti, always learning, though he was never taught why.  This, he came to learn, wasn't that uncommon, though; none of those of his age, or even those a lot older, had any but the most vague clues as to what was really going on.  Apparently, this was to protect them until they were old enough to protect themselves; these secrets were sought by many, and many of those wouldn't think twice about doing whatever it took to making people talk.  If you were older, you could get past the torture.

As he matured, he learned more and more about what was going on.  Unfortunately, he was actually 20 years old... a few years older than most of those around him... when he first shifted.  Because of this, it was twice as hard for him to reach the rank of Tekhmet, but the information he found out when he slipped into that Setite den was quite useful to his Bubasti elders.  But, even then, he was still not taught what it was he was protecting.  And, even to this day, the urge to know this drives at him, constantly pushing him to learn more and more, until his elders allow him to reach the next rank, when they said he would be strong enough, smart enough, and ready to know this.

Three years later, at the age of 25, he was granted a great gift by his mentor.  A fetish that she called the Leech Skin.  When he wore it, his aura, it seemed, would mimic that of the leeches he was around, and allow him to get closer to those he was trying to get information out of without getting caught.  With this, and his growing skill in fooling those he was around into believing he was one of them, he was able to get VERY close to a Setite near his Pride.  This Setite, roughly six months ago (mid-2003), disappeared... after giving Lukman some very damning information... and then being turned over to the Pride for gathering MORE information.

With what he'd learned, Lukman was given permission to go to the United States, where he plans to covertly follow this information.

Contacts: Luke has, at this point, one contact.  A decently-powerful Bubasti mystic back in Egypt.  They keep in contact when it suits the mystic, but Luke, in exchange for a little information, can learn a great deal from her.

Secrets: Luke has discovered a decent amount of secrets on the Setites... including, from one he managed to charm the info out of, the names of a few of those people he had been known to associate with.  All he learned about are in the northern East Coast of the United States.  Including someone named Kalos en-Hilel, who currently resides in Brentford North, Virginia.  (There are others, but I'd need to talk to each Setite player, to make sure they're cool with it.  If not, then the rest are the NPCs at the Temple).  This is one of the reasons he went to Brentford North in the first place... to find out more about these Setites.

Trinkets: This is a takeoff on the Baneskin Fetish.  Basically, it is a way for a Bastet to get in close to a Kindred, without being given away by the one thing he cannot fake.  His aura.  This is a small amulet, which has a bit of Kindred vitae in it in some form or fashion.  His is shaped like a Scarab.  When he wears it around his neck, he will appear to anyone sensing his aura (ANYone, not just vampires) to have a Kindred aura.  This could be good, or, if those see this who don't like Kindred, bad.  Gnosis is the same as Baneskin.
