History

Bruce was a child of the 70s.  Born in Palisade’s Park, New Jersey, the only son of a single mother, his childhood was not one of happy memories and warm, fuzzy feelings.  His father had died when he was only a year old, and his mom never talked much about the man… so it probably wasn’t a comfortable subject.  But Bruce had always looked past this, concerned more with the more pressing concerns surrounding his life; usually, the fact that he was dirt poor.  His mother’s job barely supported them, even in that old one room apartment they shared, food was scarce, and so was heat, but they made it through together all right.  They had to.  But even still, Bruce found himself spending less of his free time at home, and most of it on the streets, hanging out with friends, causing trouble, and all the other things poor city kids tend to do.  In an era where Disco reigned, Bruce wasn’t exactly a punk, but nor was he into Saturday Night Fever… sort of caught in the middle, just trying to make it.

Yeah, he’d grown up a lot since then.  He’d made it through high school, gotten a job as a cabbie… and eventually made his way out of that world he had known for so many years.  Being a cab driver wasn’t exactly a life of luxury, but in the bigger cities, especially New York City, someone could survive pretty decently.  And so that’s where Bruce moved himself.  The Big Apple.  And slowly, but surely, Bruce made a name for himself in the company he worked for.  Sure, it took several years, and a lot of hard work, but in the end it all paid off.

And now he was here… a driver/manager for the company in Brentford North… well, South too, but they didn’t get as much business there usually.  He had a serious relationship with a wonderful and intelligent woman, some good friends, and a stable income.  Oh, and he found out two years ago that he was actually a part of a breed of creatures created by the Earth Mother, Gaia, to protect the world from evil.

Yeah.

That’ll burst your little reality bubble.

When you suddenly find out that you can become about 10 feet tall, with muscles that a bodybuilder would boggle at, fur as thick as anything, claws like something out of an old movie, and teeth just as deadly… it tends to change your perceptions on things.  Especially when you discover this at the age of 28, after your ideas about reality are pretty much set in stone.

During his time in Brentford, he had stumbled upon a girl in an alley.  Hung up on the wall, gutted, and her eyes removed.  The anger, fear, grief, and sadness overwhelmed him... and he changed for the first time.  Raging, he destroyed the body and nearly killed another Glasswalker named Alaster before he could be subdued.  Alaster trained him in the ways of the Garou... but because of his late change, he tends to Rage easier than most.

How do you cope?  That’s easy.  Alcohol.  At least at first.  After that, you just have to get used to it, and learn to deal with the fact that your life isn’t at all what you thought it would be.

Quote

"I've been thrown into a world I never thought existed... and for the longest time I just wanted out. Now, I've seen what happens when you turn your back on your family, and I'm only thankful I had the chance to right my decision before someone died because of it.  Now I do what I can... for the Sept, for Gaia, and for me."
