History

The story of Thorin RedOak, known for MANY lifetimes as Thorin SilverHammer, goes back a LONG way... to the beginning of the Changelings, created by the Tuatha de Dannan. However, the history of Scott Grayson is also quite a long one... longer than most ever imagined for a mortal being. Scott was born in Boston, Massachusetts in the year of our Lord 1733. Yes, over 200 years ago. He lived the life of a normal colonial young man, until 1753, a few months before his 21st birthday... when he Chrysalized.

When he had first gone through his Chrysalis, and remembered what he was, there was a long period of joy in his life.  Yes, Thorin had been reborn, and he could once again live as he was meant to.  As an explorer, a scout, a wanderer, and a warrior… a noble soul enveloped in a cause for goodness and righteousness.

He remembered mild things about his past lives, and had some deja-vu about similar events, but nothing too extreme. He fought in the Revolutionary war, and later aided in the explorations that happened just afterwards. Probably his proudest moment came when he wandered through the width of the entire United States and all its territories, making it to the giant redwood forests of what is now California… today, that was nothing big, but in his time, that was an incredible achievement, and his name was changed to show this great achievement.  His Kith had even graced him with the weapon he carried… the giant redwood maul, with its enchanted strength and durability.

That was when he noticed it for the first time.  About 30 years after his Chrysalis.  He had not aged hardly at ALL.  2, maybe 3 years in this entire time.  And yet he should have been graying, getting wrinkles and all the other signs of old age.  This was the reason he had gone into hiding.  For the longest time, he tried to deny it, but he knew the look he was getting.  Sooner or later, he would have to explain himself… and later was getting awfully close to him.  So… he just left.  Into the Appalachian Mountains, where he would remain for over 30 years more.

The Civil War was his first return… and after seeing all that death, he swore he would NEVER come back to the land of “civilized” people, if they had the audacity to call THIS civilization… he would die in those mountains, happy with his own moral character.  And, for about a century, he DID remain in the mountains… almost to the point of insanity when they finally found him.  There were three of them, large and noble Trolls… and they were looking for him.  They told him, later, once they’d gotten him back to his original state of mind, that there were rumors that a very old Troll was up in the mountains, and they were hoping he would be able to help them in this new time… the return of the Sidhe, and the Accordance Wars.  Scott learned of the Massacre at Beltaine, and, without hesitation, signed on.

He was instrumental in the Battle of Central Park, the Battle of Brooklyn Bridge, and the Battle of Greenwich; he fought in all the other major battles as well… no one could stop him from being there, not even his Sidhe opponents…and was present to give his oath PERSONALLY to the High King David. However, this war had hardened him against the Sidhe, and he felt that, unless they had proven themselves to him (as David had done), he would not respect them, and would find ways to replace them with those who DESERVED the power of their position.  But, instead of staying and being a good follower… he returned to the mountains once again.  Technology had increased too much for his liking, and the banality of the world was growing almost too high for him to take.

He might have stayed up there for another hundred years, but he could feel the banality starting to catch up to him, riding the wave of insanity that threatened to take over his entire mind.  Instead of staying that long… he just waited until he was sure it was either return to the world and face it as it was, or go insane up here, alone, on this mountain.  Perhaps it was cowardice that drove him into seclusion… perhaps not… but he would no longer stay up there, all alone.

He knew they would all have forgotten about him.  That’s natural, of course… no one would remember a man from over two centuries past.  The only thing that would be known about him was his Reputation, and that was only amongst the Changelings.  So now he had returned, and is discovering that as bad as he had thought things were getting… they had only gotten worse.  Dreams were dying, the Winter was coming, and there was no place in the world for people like him.  But he had hope.  As long as the Dreaming still survived, and as long as those like him kept fighting, it was not over.  And that is one thing Scott had never done… he had never stopped fighting, as long as the battle was still going strong.  Perhaps things would get worse… perhaps they would get better… but no matter what, there would always be a Thorin RedOak… and there would, for a very long time to come, be a Scott Grayson.

One thing to be noted about Thorin/Scott is his treasure... A large Maul, larger than most, which is made of solid Oak. Its Chimerical powers, however, make it just as tough, as deadly, and as powerful, as any Iron Maul, but without any additional Iron penalties.

Left-handed Glove- (Kyros 2 Gelid Rime)
-This lone glove is very cool to the touch and fits any size hand. When this glove is held on an object or location, it can cause a thin sheet of ice to form. When placed in a door jam or keyhole, it can cause ice to form, increasing the difficulty of entry. If used on a floor, a sheet of ice will spread up to a size of 5x5 feet. Can be used once per scene. 1 Glamour to activate.

Quote

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves "who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?" Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of the Universe. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do... we were born to make manifest the Universe that is within us. And as we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we're liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
