| Darryel Markson is the son of a Terran space
merchant... and a daughter of Darkover, who had a distant blood
relation to the Comyn family of Alton. Believing himself
to have been born on the TMS Journeyman, between the stars
Formor II and Aliston, he was raised as a Terran complete... but this
was not the truth. He was born on Alton Lands, on the planet
known as Darkover, or, to the Terrans, Cottman IV. After his mother,
Margarethe Lanart, died in
childbirth, the child was taken by the father, and raised in space and
on colony worlds... occasionally going to Terra, but very rarely.
As he grew, he decided that he, too, would join the Terran military,
and, by odd chance... and the money... ended up stationed on Darkover,
which he knew only as Cottman IV.
Darryel is an avid reader, and has
studied everything he can get his hands on... that is Terran, anyway,
due to the difficulty in getting a hold of Darkovan reading materials. |
