History

Origins
:

Nakagorou has had one of the... to put it lightly... busiest lives of almost any man alive.  There are very few people who actually know where he comes from, where he learned the skills and knowledge he has, or even if this is his true name!  But, for those who take the necessary painstaking measures to find out, the story they can learn would keep them reading, and entertained, for a long, long time to come.

As a young boy, during the time of the House of Toyotomi... many years before the Shogun took over... Nakagorou was the son of a book store owner.  Enraptured by the ideas put forth in the stories his father read to him, the young man wanted nothing less than to see every one of these things, to learn everything he could, and to do everything that was possible to be done by a Commoner in Japan.  When he was but 17, he ran away from home, and began a series of adventures that, had they happened to a Noble or Samurai, would have been immortalized in tale for centuries to come.  No one truly knows... not even Nakagorou, after so long... which order they occurred in, but these are the events of his life.

He traveled for a time with a Storyteller named Ken, who taught him the lore of the Supernatural creatures of this world; Kappa, Oni, Baku, Yuki-Onna... all of it was included in Nakagorou's education.  He studied with a Healer named Mamoru, and the man taught him the basics of Herbalism, as well as the lore of the Fauna of Japan.  He spent some time with a Hunter in the northern area of Japan, Norogumi, who taught him not only about the animals of the world (Japan), but how to understand them in a way that was beyond normal belief; nothing supernatural, just how to comprehend their actions in a rational manner.  He trained with not only a Buddhist Monk, but a Shinto priest, learning of both religions, and the arts they could teach... including a moderate bit of Martial Arts, and the lore of not only Japan, but the entirety of East Asia.  He studied with one of the master chefs of Japan, Genma, who taught him the fine art of cooking.  For a time, he stayed with one of the Imperial Gardeners, Tsumaru Ren, who taught him both how to keep a good flower garden, and a garden for eating... as well as the fine art of Calligraphy.  He was tutored under the Sage Sadayoshi, at that time of Edo, who taught him the lands of Japan, and of the known world (East Asia).  And, he worked under a Merchant in Okinawa, Oniji, where he finally learned to read his precious books.

That was a long time ago.  He has, since then, settled down in a small hut near Iiga Village... and become somewhat of a Hermit.

Present:

Now living just out of Iiga Village, Nakagorou is simply a hermit, living with what he can grow in his garden or scrounge up in the surrounding woods.  Few know he is out there... Lady Oyuki and Lord Yoshiro, for instance, both know, and understand the wisdom he possesses... but also understand his wish for privacy.  But, still, if he is needed, his door is open.  And for those who can handle his riddles, and who can take the time to understand his meanings, his wisdom is always open.

Desires:

He has no desires anymore... except to live a quiet, simple life.

Fates:

Fate has already dealt him a wonderful hand, one that has given him a very broad and wonderful life.  Whatever else it brings to him, he will accept it gladly.
