This house in the village of Ain Kerim has outside steps which would originally have led up to the roof.
When four men lowered a paralysed man through the roof of a house to be healed by Jesus they would have carried him up steps like these to reach the roof. Of course the roof would not have been like a modern roof, but probably consisted of branches laid over a framework of rafters. |
