As a Samoyed owner for over 35 years, and one who is keenly interested in the various aspects of doggydom (e.g. pedigrees / breeding / showing, training), my primary goals have been: firstly -- to be a responsible pet owner; and secondly -- to breed for high quality puppies.
Roka Kennels is a non-traditional kennel -- and my breeding program is based on small numbers. It is, however, well-researched and incorporates qualities from well-established, high-profile lineages. At all times, I endeavour to produce soundness in body, pleasing personality, and conformation to breed type.
Events I've successfully participated in are: conformation shows (Canada and U.S.A), clicker training, freestyle routines to music, and obedience trials. My latest efforts have been discovering the fun of agility training -- Samoyeds are so versatile!
At home, we believe in "participaction" with our sammies -- by taking them for daily walks, and by training using the "clicker" technique. It's the gentle method that promotes good manners in our sammies and accomplishes results in a quick and fun way!
We are members in good standing of the Canadian Kennel Club, Ottawa Kennel Club, Samoyed Association of Canada, and the Samoyed Club of America. |
