Easter eggs in and around Windows


At this moment I've discovered just a couple of easter eggs.

Internet Explorer 4.0x

  1. Start Internet Explorer 4.0x
  2. Click on Help
  3. Click on About Internet Explorer
  4. This window will appear :
  5. Press and hold control key
  6. Drag the Internet Explorer logo on the world logo.
  7. Release the mouse button and the control key
  8. Press and hold the control key again
  9. Drag the Internet Explorer logo to the right.
  10. The text Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 will slide away.
  11. Release the control key
  12. There appears a button Unlock :
  13. Press this button, and the world logo starts trembling.
  14. Press and hold the control (for the last time)
  15. Drag the Internet Explorer logo on the world logo.
  16. Relax and watch.

Time Zone Settings

  1. Press on the clock at the taskbar.
  2. Click on Time Zone
  3. This window will appear :
  4. Press and hold the left control & shift key
  5. Click on Cairo (Egypt)
  6. Drag from Cairo to Houston (VS)
  7. Release the mouse button, the control & the shift key
  8. Press and hold the control & shift key again
  9. Drag from Houston to San Fransisco (VS)
  10. Relax and watch

Open GL screensavers

This one is very simple.

  1. Select the screensaver "3D text"
  2. You'll see this window :
  3. Click on the settings button.
  4. Type for text "volcano"
  5. When the screensaver starts, you'll see the names of volcanos in the US.

 

Excel Virtual Reality

  1. Start Microsoft Excel (Office 97)
  2. Press F5
  3. Enter x97:l97, and press enter.
  4. Press tab.
  5. Press and hold control and shift, when you click on the graph icon.
  6. Enjoy the simple VR environment

 

The Access magic 8-ball knows it all.

This is quiet a long one

  1. Start Microsoft Access 97
  2. Choose "Blank Database" from the dialog box, then click "OK".
  3. Give the database any name you want.
  4. Click on "Create".
  5. You will get a new dialog box called db1:Database (or whatever you named it).
  6. Click on the Macros tab.
  7. Click "New" along the right-hand side of the dialog box.(A new dialog box called "Macro1:Macro." shows.)
  8. From the View menu, choose "Macro Names".(the Macro Name column appears on the left side of the Macro1:Macro dialog box.)
  9. Click the upper-left cell of the Macro1:Macro dialog box and type Magic Eight Ball.
  10. Leave the Action and Comment cells empty.
  11. Click on the X in the upper-right corner of the Macro1:Macro dialog box to close the dialog box, or click the Save button on the toolbar.
  12. If you clicked the X to close the dialog box, say "Yes" to save changes.(Access now prompts you for a Macro name.)
  13. Type Magic Eight Ball in the Macro Name box and click on the "OK".
  14. Now you are back to the db1:Dialog box. The new macro, Mahic Eight Ball, shows in the Macros window. It should be highlighted, if not, click on it.
  15. Click on the Magic Eight Ball macro and, hold the left mouse button down, and drag the macro to the Access toolbar.
  16. You may already have a Black Eight Ball icon now.
    1. Leave that dialog box open and right-click on the new macro button and select "Choose Button Image" from the pop-up menu.
    2. Now click on the Magic Eight Ball icon, a black pool ball with the number eight on it.
    3. Click "OK", then "Close".
  17. Now! Ask your computer a question.Click on the Magic Eight Ball button on your toolbar.
If you want to delete the Magic Eight Ball:
  1. Right-click on the Magic Eight Ball in the db1: Database dialog box.
  2. Click "Delete" on the short-cut menu.
  3. Then click "Yes".
  4. This deletes the Magic Eight Ball macro from your database.
  5. To delete the Magic Eight Ball button from your toolbar, right-click anywhere on the toolbar and select Customize from the pop-up menu.
  6. Then click and drag the Magic Eight Ball macro button off the toolbar and release it anywhere in the Access workspace.

 

Word Pinball

  1. Start Microsoft Word (Office 97)
  2. Type "blue" (without quotes)
  3. Select the text, choice color=blue and text=bold.
  4. Deselect the word "blue".
  5. Add 1 space after the word.
  6. Open the about window
  7. Click on the Word logo (left top)
  8. You can play "pinball"

 

Note : Especially the Time Zone Easter Egg is sometimes hard to start, just keep trying.
