| Name: Linda Trent Location: Crown City, OH Education: Some College Employment: Housewife Major Life Accomplishment: The Bradford Place. An 1863 total immersion living history site in south-east Ohio that Hank and I developed from the raw acreage. And of course, researching everything from the type of grasses, vegetables, flowers and livestock, to extracting information from a local Gallia County store day-book (for 1860 and 1862), to timber framing and log building. We also have created composite yet believable and sustainable characters with deep backgrounds, not only for the family being depicted, but for the entire section of the township! I can get carried away when it comes to first person! <g> Prior to the Bradford Place, I worked for a season at Connor Praire, an 1836 first person living history village in Noblesville, Indiana. I interpreted in the doctor' house, the inn, and the blacksmith's home. My Most Challenging experience: Doing a first person presentation with Hank for a Civil War Round-Table in Clarksburg, WV. It was also my most rewarding experience. I was portraying an Union nurse from Armory Square Hospital in Washington, and Hank a Confederate surgeon from Lynchburg. This group of genuine enthusiasts had just returned from a CW tour of both cities. They tried to trip us, but couldn't. Reenacting Experiences: I've been reenacting for 12 years, and doing 24/7 first person for the last 11.5 of those. Hank and I were getting burned out during Carnifex Ferry, WV in 1991, so we challenged each other to see who'd break first, and we've been doing it ever since. I have attended such events as McDowell in 2001, Burkittsville Hospital in 2003, Recon II Civilians, McDowell 2003, and will be attending the War on the James in October and The Advance Guard in October. And would have done Wayfaring Strangers in November, but just can't do 3 intense events in 5 weeks, all with different characters! I am also the overall coordinator for the Struggle for Statehood event to be held in Lesage, WV in March of 2004! I am a member of the Kearny Guards. |
