Anniston — Services for Norn Non, age 25, of Anniston will be Sunday, May 28, 2006 at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Anniston with the Rev. David Rice officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the church with Brown & Kughn Memory Chapel directing. Mr. Non died Friday at Regional Medical Center.

Pallbearers will be Non Ong, Noeun Non, Daniel Sherman, Jimmy Miller, Erik McDaniel, and Bob Couch.

He is survived by his mother, Ron Svay and father Non Ong, of Anniston, Ala.; one brother, Noeun Non, of Anniston, Ala.; one sister, Randi Non, of Anniston, Ala.; and grandmothers, Gim Gam and Ong Chn, of Cambodia.

Mr. Non was a native of Cambodia and came to the United States in 1985. He attended Faith Christian School, was a carpenter, and an avid soccer player. Mr. Non was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Anniston.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Norn Non Memorial Fund, c/o First Presbyterian Church, 1701 Henry Road, Anniston, AL 36207.

Roh's Note: Non is, by far, the most technically gifted soccer player I have ever met in my life. I never saw him without a smile. I was lucky to coach him briefly, and later got to coach his brother and sister, too. He was the first Anniston Storm player to come back and help coach the younger kids, leading to a wave of former players and adult team members returning to help the club, making it one of the most respected, competitive, and skilled clubs in South during the 90's and into the early 21st century. The Storm would never have accomplished what it did without Non. A great player, a great kid, he will be missed. My thoughts go out to the family and friends.

25 years is way to short of a life, especially when it is cut short by cancer, but I am grateful for the time I was able to spend with Non.
