My Words, My Works
Southern Rogue
Summer whispers through her veins
Echoes in her heart.
Oak trees stand behind her eyes
Tall and strong and stark.
Southern comfort wraps around
Every glance and touch.
Wild winds have whipped her mane,
The sun has been its brush.
Magnolia blossom kissed her hair
And there has left its mark;
Creamy pale against the night,
White in front of dark.
Ancient waters held her soul,
The rains have washed it clean,
Jasmine's breath has filled her lungs,
A scent that haunts her dreams.
A mist that rises from the ground,
A ghost before her eyes.
A fleeting thought to be found,
Among a world of lies.
Battle starts and Battle stripes,
Are branded on her heart,
Loyalty and Courage
-a good Southern start.
Battle cries and Battle shouts,
that echo through the years.
Trip along the moss-lined paths,
Echo in her ears.
The Gambit
The moon rises to fill the void,
Left in space and time.
The water sings a silent song
Blanketed sublime
The Air lies thick and Heavy
Between the Cypress Trees
Hammocks rise from the swamp
Coiled 'round their Knees.
Listen to the quiet Lap,
From barely moving shore.
The Tall, Dark Stone chambers,
Rising up before,
Silent witnesses,
To years of lore.
The aged white strands drape,
Hanging wooden branch.
Ancient temples,
From oak tree's staunch.
And underneath it all,
Stands Revelry,
Charged with Kinetic,
Energy.
I have not
I have not loved much, long.
But what I have loved,
I have loved hard,
Long.
I have not had
To let go of much.
But what has been taken
Has been such
As to love much,
Hard,
Long.
            of us
       of faire tales,
       and lullabies,
      of quiet sleep,
  and three pairs of eyes.
    of five little fingers,
    in a browner ten,
      of you and me,
      and then again,
             of us.
I try to sleep but can't
So I lay here in between,
trying to ignore the feeling
prevailant feeling,
that you're holding me.
I close my eyes,
and rest my head
wearily upon my bed.
content to dreamless,
peaceful sleep
If only you would let me keep
the feeling that rakes my body and soul
but you hold me to make me whole.
I cannot see, or taste, or hear
and yet you whisper in my ear
as we lay there in the dark
eternities apart.
How can you hold one you've never met?
Carry their heart
on which to make your bet.
How can you dream when dreamers do forbear
lose thyself to mystic realms
Are you breathing air?
Never
I have never loved another
As much as I thought
I loved him
I have never held another
As much as I thought
I held him
I have never missed another
As much as I thought
I missed him
    Noncompulsory Attendance
            Why am I here?
           I wish you knew
         but what you told me
       would make anyone blue,
and the hands that hold the locks
       have thrown away the keys
and the mouths that hold the fire
have lost the tongues to speak
and the eyes that hold my gaze
have lost their orbs of light
    you've given up on everything
and that is half the fight.
