Martyr to a Betrayer

Martyr to a Betrayer

Why do I die for you?

     Can’t you understand?

     Beaten black and blue.

     Slave to your command.

     Much as I may bleed,

     To take away your strife,

     I cannot concede,

Though it may cost me my life.

I don’t think you can see,

And yet I tell a lie,

I say to take from me,

But you have sucked me dry.

But I made a solemn vow,

That day I chose to play,

     There’s no reward for now,

     But one on Judgement Day.
