Egyptologists Are Full of It

One of the things about the Pyramids, and how they were built, that has always bothered me was the presumed level of technology of the ancient Egyptians.  From my research so far, a majority of archeologists- Egyptologists most notably- have stated that the Pyramids of Giza (and the Sphinx as well) were built without the benefit of technologies such as the wheel, block and tackle (pulley systems) or draft animals.

Let us take each technology one by one to better understand the argument.

Draft Animals- The significance of that is they can reduce a workload exponentially.  Think about it, in many parts of the world- past and present- draft animals (elephants, yaks, horses, oxen, etc.) are used for a variety of tasks, but most often for hauling or pulling heavy loads that human could not realistically do themselves- such as moving and placing 40 ton blocks.

Now we are to believe that resource was unavailable to the Egyptians at the assumed time of the Pyramids- 2800 BCE.  However, we are told that animals were domesticated, at the latest, 6000 BCE.  That is 3200 years in which to perfect the use of animals.  Now, you may argue that perhaps Egypt did not have this technology even if Mesopotamia did, but I would ask: What about all those stone carvings of chariots inside the Pyramids themselves?

Which brings me to the next technology: The Wheel.

Many sources have placed the invention of the wheel at 3500 BCE- 700 years before the Pyramids- and yet we are to believe the Egyptians lacked this technology?  How sloppy!  Even more damning to the Egyptologists’ argument is the use of wheeled vehicles in Uruk in 3200 BCE- a staggering 400 years this technology was available and yet not one Egyptian engineer (seriously, there would had to have been engineers to pull off the marvel of the Pyramids) knew of it?  How stupid do Egyptologists and historians think we are?  However, in all fairness, the public at large does not question the “knowledge” of the “experts”, instead blindly deferring to their judgment.

Now before I go on to considering the block and tackle, I would like to take a moment to look at another type of technology available in the area at the time of the building of the Pyramids.

The Egyptians had ship sailing technology.  Now I am not saying their sails were as advanced as the Spanish Armada, or even the Phoenicians, but come on!  The very existence of sails requires riggings (i.e. ropes and pulleys) in order to control the sail and its exposure to the wind- even with its very basic design.  So, I think we can safely say that the Egyptologists are wrong- yet again- about the lack of the block and tackle technology.

Now, upon considering all of this, does it not seem a bit ridiculous to continue that the Pyramids of Giza were built with nothing more than manpower, levers and national pride?
