Below:  A view point along Ortega Highway.  This contriversial area is right in the middle of the Cleveland National Forest that sits between south Orange County and Riverside County.  The inland side sits the city of Lake Elsinore.  Ortega Highway used to be the premier motorcycling road in Orange County, as it is 30 miles long and contains fun twists and turns with ultra-smooth pavement.  Ortega still is a great motorcycling road.  But the aggressive development and population growth in Riverside County has turned Ortega
Right & Below:  I live in South Orange County, CA.  It is a beautiful area of SoCal, but it is also heavily populated. In many parts of CA, Pacific Coast Hwy is a very scenic and wide open drive.  In SoCal, PCH is filled with mansions, businesses, and pay-only public beaches.  When I don't have anywhere else to ride, I ride down PCH along Laguna Beach.  In between the mansions, it's actually possible to have an unobstructed view of the Pacific Ocean!  Most of the time though, gated communities for the rich and infamous abound along this area of PCH!
Below right:  Santiago Canyon Road is located in one of the last undeveloped areas in South Orange County, CA.  The absence of development is evident in this picture.  Santiago Cyn, is filled with easygoing sweepers that make it popular among Cruisers.  It is also a popular revenue collection point for the CHP and the Lake Forest Sheriff thanks to
the lack of turns that makes speed very easy.  However, it's only 5 minutes from my home so it is a convenient place to ride when time is short and there is no other choice.  If I hit this road early enough on the weekends, before the cruisers and cops come out, I can actually have a nice, un-impeded ride without the kill-joy cops and slow pokes.
Hwy into a major thoroughfare for commuters 7 days a week.  The only time Ortega is empty enough to be fun to ride on a bike is during a two hour period, very early on weekends and holidays.
