After the quick stop at Lucia, we rode further north.  I let Asphalt_Carver go ahead of me.  The roads were still slick but at least there was no more rain.  Our poor bikes were pretty dirty.  There were few cars on Hwy 1 that morning mostly due to the rain.  I encountered at least half a dozen Mustang Convertibles.  If I didn't know any better I would say half the people who live here had red Mustang Convertibles!  Truth was, they were mostly rental units.  Unfortunately for them, the rain meant their tops had to stay up.  I stopped by a Vista Point and for the first time since I had been coming here, I had it all to myself!

Above:  I could park ANYWHERE on this Vista Point.  It was all mine!

Northward on Hwy 1, wet roads made way to dry roads.  And then, the sun came out and the clouds scattered.  Holy Moses!  It was like someone just turned on the lights!  The sky was crystal clear blue and every detail, every color, was in clear view and stood out like a perfectly composed photograph!
The road cleared and the debris that previously littered the surface disappeared.  Now I could really enjoy the ride instead of like riding on eggshells!  I picked up speed and began to lean the bike further.  The best part was, all the sightseeing cagers had not come out to play yet.  So we had the roads to ourselves for a little while longer.  I was now in the middle of this part of Highway 1 called the Pacific Valley where it was mostly flat.  The scenery was fantastic!  Straight out of calendars and postcards.
