| I gained an interest in the drums at the age of ten years old and studied snare drum in the Bronx with my first teacher, Ray Wasner. I took to drum set playing after seeing a friend, Nick Colon, play and being turned on to Buddy Rich and Max Roach. When I saw a band named "Blue Moose" (later became "Slipstream")play back in 1973 at a St. Raymond's High School dance, I knew music was something I was passionate about. The Beatles, Procol Harum, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Jethro Tull; were all the rage in rock in NYC and WPLJ radio played those groups constantly throughout the 1970's. Fueling my passion for great music even more! I played with many bands over the years playing both cover music and developing orginals. The most prominent groups were; "Teaser","The Exam","The Pat Keating Band", "Magic Moments" and "Frankie Curran & The Evergreens". My drumming studies were with Dave Christopher, Neil Boyer, Jim Barnes at The Westchester Conservatory and Gary Chester. I found Gary through an article written about him back in April 1983 in Modern Drummer Magazine. In studying with Gary, I developed the coordination necessary to make the drums a life-long passion of expression for me. I continue to develop my playing today and take great delights in offerring my services and insight of over 33 years in playing drums to anyone who wishes to study Gary Chester's method. Listening to the coodination and 'playing over ostinatos' that is being performed today by greats like Terry Bozzio, Marco Minneman and Chad Wackerman; makes me proud to understand the concepts necessary to create some trully dynamic pieces of music with the drum-set. If you have the desire you can develop your voice on the drums as well. It comes with time, patience and experience. I can direct you with my electronic mail study course having you work through Gary Chester's method. You will develop better time, reading, feel and execution of your ideas on the drums. And that is where the true expression of yourself comes through. To find out how you get started, e-mail me today at: [email protected] |
