WHAT IS PROXENETISM?
I have already defined proxenetism in one of my manuscripts. Let me put it again here. Proxenetism is any intervention of third party to promote love between two people with the search of a financial advantage for this third party. Lucrece Borgia, for example, has been married two times by his father, Pope alexander VI. While, for many peple, there is no proxenetism in this behavior, however for me, if Lucrece has been married, as she was, with a rich aristocrat man who has supported the Catholic church by this time, proxenetism can be looked for. In many occasions, I have been put in contact with girls by a third party or a third party wanted to arrange an affair for me with a girl. Sometimes, it looked to me as proxenetism, sometimes not.
Proxenetism is current by our days, and many mothers, other relatives, friends and unrelated people push young girls or ladies to have sex with boys and men for the purpose of material gain. Proxenetism is not at all restricted to brothels. However, my definition of proxenetism is a large one, there is a restricted definition which limits proxenetism to the situation in a brothel ruled by a proxenete manager. Nevertheless, prostitution is not practiced only in a brothel and many love affairs are done for material gain not only between the parties engaged in but often have involved a third party, and the mob has often been behind the curtains. Why? Look at money laundering, it is big and it is safe!
BUT WHAT IS THE MOB AND HOW POWERFUL MIGHT IT BE?
The Mob is any group of people who coordinate their actions for the purpose of illegal financial gain and the range of their activities is huge. The mob does not spare any sector of the society. It runs from its most evil sectors to even inside the Church. The members have often some familial links (cf., Aber V.R.L.; Deviant behavior, a social learning approach)and it is why they arrange "love affairs", or, at least, sexual contacts.
